Reasons behind Media Choices in a successful promotional campaign
A business that has done a successful promotional campaign is Microsoft Xbox One promotional campaign. I am going to be discussing the choice of media and the reasons behind it for Microsoft Xbox One.
The first choice of media Microsoft uses is television this is because television is a widespread form of media and appeals to a large audience. The reason Microsoft have chosen the television to advertise their product is because it appeals to a lot of people and is a good way of advertising the product to a lot of people because people are always watching TV. TV also will repeatedly play these adverts in between shows meaning that even if you miss one advert you’re almost certain to see another if you do watch the adverts. Microsoft will have put their Xbox One adverts on channels which will interest people who want to buy it so on kids/teenage channels.
The second choice of media Microsoft uses is the internet there will have been loads more Xbox One adverts on the internet on numerous different popular websites. This is because the internet also holds a wide audience and will have numerous numbers of people on websites at a time and they will see the adverts and be aware of the product. This was a great way of marketing their product because they put it on popular kid’s websites/popular websites in general to raise awareness of the product. The internet will have many different audiences as well in different countries which mean they will have alerted people overseas as well meaning the media appeals globally.
The third choice of media Microsoft uses is magazines there is an Xbox magazine which previous Xbox users would have been alerted about the new console on. This means people who already had an interest in consoles will have been alerted to a much new next generation console which will appeal to them meaning Microsoft have reached the right target audience. This is a good example of media

It is cheaper and does not cause as much waste, so it is becoming a more and more popular trend to read the news online rather than purchasing something you would later have to throw away. The main types of advertising media are as follows: television, printed (newspaper, magazines etc...), press coverage, billboards, radio, in store, social media, emails and paid searches (i.e. paying google to advertise you on certain searches)…
