As the growing population and natural resources decrease, there are many cities like Beijing, Tokyo, New York, Singapore, London and more cities in the world are facing overcrowding. These cities are currently experiencing problems of the growing populations in urban areas and some of the countries are starting to develop suburban areas. Problems had started to occur as the urban areas are almost fully occupied.
Overcrowding has now becoming a problem for large urban cities, overcrowding happened when an area is getting too populated, people would starts to migrate to the city to get a better life or opportunity as well as economics. Human quality of life and resource depletion would are becoming crucial concern when cities starts becoming overcrowded.
Sao Paulo in Brazil, it is the 9th largest city in the world in 2013 also the largest city in South America with a population of 19 million people. Due to the overcrowding problem in Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo is having the world’s busiest metro system. The Subway and railway systems helped to solve the traffic problem, it is a way to avoid and minimize the bad traffic in Sao Paulo, and it comes in at 11.5 million riders per kilometer.
Unfortunately, the metro does not hold enough people or go to enough locations although the metro system is efficient. The government increased 22 more miles of metro line on year 2010, hoping to decrease the traffic jams and improve air quality. However, this action taken my Sao Paulo government is not enough as the city is growing faster than the government can take action. As the economy growing, people have more ability to purchase cars; this had caused the traffic conditions worst.
