DCHAPTER-ONE: GENERAL TOPICS

INTRODUCTION

The term “Industrial Tour Report” means preparing a report on some industries after visiting the industries physically with a group or individually under a proper guidance, reviewing their process of operation or observing the procedure of production, gathering relevant data found in the management of them, critically analyzing and evaluating the findings, providing suggestion on the performance of the sample enterprise. As a requirement of the examinee of 4th year B.B.A. (Hons), Major in Management. We have visited KDS Garments which is a member unit of KDS Group of Industries containing twenty various industries in Bangladesh. we have prepared our report visiting the industry physically, observing their process of operation and procedure of production, collecting the relevant data from the management personnel, analyzing and evaluating the findings as well as have drawn comments on the performance of the industry.

We think that this tour report will be of great use to the readers, students and researchers of tomorrow in the field of Garments industries in Bangladesh.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The main objective of the study is to evaluate the production, marketing financial as well as overall performance of the KDS Garments. More specifically the study covers the following objective.

□ To know about the company profile; □ To have an idea about their purchase policy; □ To attain information about their marketing policies and practices; □ To gain knowledge about their quality policy and assess their performance; □ To gather information about their financial performance; □ To measure their productivity; □ To measure the impact of productivity on the performance measure through profitability; □ To determine the contribution KDS to national exchequer for the period under study; □ To evaluate the role of KDS in the creation of employment; □ To

The sector now dominates the modern economy in export earnings, secondary impact and employment generated. We believe the policymakers in Bangladesh should work to reduce this dependence by moving quickly to develop the other export industries using the lessons learned from the success of apparel exports. Support for the apparel sector should not be reduced. In fact, another way to reduce the vulnerability is to diversify the product and the market mix. It is heartening to observe that the knit products are rapidly gaining share in overall garment exports as these products are sold in quota-free markets and reflect the strength of Bangladeshi producers in the fully competitive global apparel markets…
