Outsiders Essay
Superman, Spiderman, and Batman. Everyone knows these super heroes; well I am hoping they do. Regardless, not every hero wares a cape or needs super powers to be considered heroic. Despite the fact anyone can be a hero. I can give some pretty convincing examples; it only takes three simple stories about three boys that sure made the headlines, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally. They proved that no matter who you are you can be a hero. There for when it comes to doing the right thing, sometimes doing the wrong thing seems to be the only right thing. For example when it comes to telling an adult about a situation for help some people think it is only going to make the situation worse. So they think that there doing the wrong thing to make things right. Here is an example of one heroic action. The bright light from the lighter that set a blaze to the cigarette caught a sparkle of blue reflection in Ponyboy eyes, as chills ran down his spine. The “Socs” a gang Ponyboy and his gang “The Greasers” feared the most the “Socs” oh, the fiercest, fearless, gang they were not afraid to pick a fight. Then the flash of sparkling blue came again but seemed closer. Pony and Johnny stood their ground, then the “Socs” began tumbling out of the car one by one there possibly could have been four or five. Suddenly a chase began Johnny caught and beat till him lies still on the cold dampness from the splashing of water. Ponyboy was caught as well as he struggled to be lose as he is slowly traumatized body was being drowned. All of a sudden the water slowly turned red from the blood of a body that ley clod on the ground Johnny had killed a “Socs” to save his friend. Now there is an example that doing the wrong thing may be the right thing at certain times and Johnny also displayed an act of heroicness. Consequently another valiant action took place. A fiery orange, red, yellow, set a blazing fire to the deep blue sky. A church set ablaze a smoke bubbled over the church and

Throughout history, there have been an incalculable number of heroes; that can be through reality or fictitious. From viewing the clips from this assignments and reading various articles regarding heroism, there are multiple aspects that determine exactly what a hero should be. In regards to the Spiderman video, Aunt May explains that a hero is someone that is courageous, self-sacrificing, and sets examples for others. Likewise, an article I read describes a hero as someone who is courageous, selfless, humble, patient, and caring. In my opinion, a hero is an individual who cares more about the life of others than themselves; they would do anything in their power to protect others as well as the world around them.…

The quote in question is “All good is destined to be defeated.” The quote means, for every good guy, there is a bad guy. For every hero, there is a villain. Everyone who has ever tried to do something good has been destined to be stopped. The quote not only speaks for literature, but for everything. If you look from now, all the way back to ancient times, you will see examples of this in many works of literature. The book The Outsiders is a good representation of the quote.…

Heroism and heroes are two things that no matter what, will always be around, people will always admire heroes, and wish they could be them. While there is an endless supply of heroes from the beginning of time, there are only a few definitions, yet over time that definition has changed to an extent. Dictionary.reference.com defines hero as: “A man of distinguished courage of ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.” Campbell’s definition, “someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself… The hero performs a courageous act in battle and saves lives,” varies quite a bit from the twenty first century definition. In both Joseph Campbell’s definition and dictionary.com’s definition, several characteristics of heroes are laid out before us: courageousness, dedication, and selflessness. These can be considered the three pillars of heroism; these characteristics add character and depth to a hero, other than somebody who performed a glorious act. Courage, the biggest pillar, are the building blocks of a hero, without courage, you simply cannot be an admired hero. Courage allows you…

In the young adult fiction story entitled Outsiders written by S.E Hinton is an outstanding book that focuses on many themes that eventually become extremely meaningful towards the end of the book, and one of those themes are that friends are like family. The reason I say this because in the book, a mob of friends stick with each other through thick and thin, and what’s significant about this gang is no matter what the situation may be, the support and care each one gives is exactly like if they were related by blood.…
