Working Title: “The First Step to Live Independently”
Dominant Impression: Deciding to live in a dormitory is the first step to a new lifestyle away from home.
Thesis Statement: Living in a dorm is something students always look out for.
I. Introduction
A. Start with an opening statement.
1. Students or teenagers are often thrilled to live away from their parents to live independently but it’s not as easy as they think.
B. State some observations about students who want to stay at a dormitory during their college years.
1. Students primarily want to go to a dormitory in order for them to be able to do anything they want to do during their stay there.
2. Students want to lessen their time travelling back to their home in order for them to give more time to studies and other stuff concerning academics or other school organizations.
II. Body
A. Experiences of dormers in the Ateneo Residence Halls
1. Independence
a. In a dormitory, you will be on yourself having your parents away from you during your stay there. You need to learn how to do your laundry, dishes and utensils and other stuff that you don’t actually normally do in your home. In that way, being independent and disciplined is the key to overcome those.
2. Social Life
a. You may be alone and have no friends at all at the start of your stay in the dormitory but there is a committee that leads the entire student dorm community which is ARSA. ARSA is a committee that handles programs and events inside the residence halls. ARSA helps everyone to know more about others better and live with them comfortably like they’re at their own home.
b. As time passes by, you and your roommates will develop closeness and trust to each other. You will tend to give jokes all of a sudden coming out from nowhere and they will surely be sharing their laughter with you. In the dormitory, you will not just find new friends but you will also find new brothers and sisters that will be there for you in times of
