Osiris And Isis Evil Vs Evil
While many enjoy a story where good conquers over evil, I do not think the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus would have improved any had Set been killed. Isis’s pity for Set shows that evil has a face of the familiar; Set was her brother and the betrothed of her sister. By allowing Set to go free, Isis shows forgiveness, although it may appear to be “poor judgement” through the eyes of others. Giving her a cows head may seem like a light punishment by some, but it, again, shows forgiveness because she is still allowed to live out her life with her husband again. Set’s death would have symbolically meant that evil could be abolished and essentially wiped from the world. Better yet, the myth describes a world where anyone can have a lapse
