An orthodontist is a dentist who specializes in straightening a patient's teeth with braces, headgear, plates and other dental appliances. Most problems that an orthodontist focuses on include misaligned tips of the teeth, crooked teeth, gaps between the teeth, improper bites, and the prevention of trauma of the teeth and extensive wear on the teeth. They also focus on people that have problems with eating, speaking, or health of teeth and gums.
