Original Mission Statement: Hospitality Case Competition At Ryerson University
Original Mission Statement:
“My mission is to try my best into all my endeavours, to make a positive difference in the lives of those around me, and to embrace life as a grand adventure.”

Revised Mission Statement:
“My mission is to find purpose in meaningful endeavours, to make a positive difference in the lives of those around me, and to embrace life as a grand adventure.”

When I wrote this mission statement in HROB*2010, I was motivated by my recent exchange to Australia to incorporate my life experiences with my academic and extra-curricular opportunities to better myself. I strongly believe that this mission statement represents the best that is within me. The three components: trying my best, making a positive difference, and embracing life are my core beliefs and motivators in life. However, I would modify the first aspect to say “finding purpose in meaningful endeavours”. This implies that I would be putting my energy towards the opportunities that give me the greatest purpose

An example of this was when my team and I won the Hospitality and Tourism Case Competition at Ryerson University this year, I was strongly dedicated to working with my teammates to achieve success. I found purpose in gaining real-world experience in my chosen career field, developed a creative solution for the company that sponsored the case, and embraced the uncertainty of being presented with new problems in an unfamiliar environment. When my team and I won first place in the Tourism category, I felt a deep sense of pride and accomplishment, especially when prominent leaders in the industry congratulated us on our presentation and solution. This mission statement encompasses my overall purpose, but also serve as a guide for the best and most favorable situations, as well as during my worst and difficult
