Many people go throughout high-school and even some of college not knowing exactly what career they would like to work in. Knowing this is critical in choosing your classes and getting organized for your future. Programs like CSTEP can really narrow down and make decisions more clear.Optometry is a very rewarding profession because you can help people to preserve and maximize their eyesight. There is just so much opportunity. One can work in private practice, pediatrics, a commercial setting, contact lenses, ophthalmic practice, ocular disease; the list goes on. The sight is extremely perplexing, yet captivating. Optometrists have the astounding chance to facilitate this sense and help patients. The onset of sicknesses of the body likewise show in the eyes and can be analyzed through changes that happen inside them. After screening for changes in the eyes, infections, for example, Alzheimer's and diabetes can be analyzed. I have always been drawn toward the health field, upon hearing about the CSTEP internship. I immediately began researching and came across how broad optometry really is. Also having to hear from some of the students who has been part of CSTEP and how they are also looking forward to majoring in optometry. In my research i learned how Currently, 168.5 million US citizens use glasses or contact lenses, which means 75% of the adult US population has seen an optometrist. That’s a vast amount of people who have encountered in some aspect with the business of optometry. Before conducting a small research of my own, I had a very narrow knowledge about optometry.
