Optimization In Health Care Essay
Optimization is the problem of finding the best feasible solution to the problem.
Optimization in healthcare is in the industry from past three decades. But now-a-days optimizations in healthcare have become noticeably and is attracting operation researchers because of the decreasing birth rates in nearly all the developed countries. Optimization has been applied in healthcare for various problems from operational level decisions to the designing of national healthcare policies. This case study is focusing on reducing optimization problems in healthcare industry with proper solution techniques.
Many questions arise when we think about optimization problem in healthcare industry. Like how to decide the best location for OPD and emergency vehicles

According to Catlin et al., 2008, healthcare is currently one of the main social and economic problems in the US.
This case study survey’s selected research work in OR, which is applied specially to the problems in Healthcare. According to Royston, 2009, OR is more utilized now so that with this they can address to day-to-day hospital management, resource constrained operations or for the treatment planning aspects in Healthcare Industry.
Many researchers have been done but the current research focus has led to the invention of many optimization issues and finding of many new solution approaches. In broad sense, Optimization issues basically include logistics, disease diagnosis, and preventive care of patients, service planning and resource scheduling.
Demand forecasting: It is an important part of healthcare planning, and can provide results with input to several optimization problems. Forecasting can be done in two ways Qualitative or Quantitative. Quantitative analysis gives better accuracy but good historical data is needed.
