Answer:
Scrub nurse:
Before the surgery
Ensure the operation theatre is clean and ready
Prepare the equipment and instruments, syringes and tools required for the operation
Count the pieces of the tools and gauze
Preserves the sterile environment
Scrub in: Washing hands, putting on sterile personal protective equipments or gowns
During the surgery
Choose and pass the correct instruments requested by the surgeon
Clean the soiled tools after use and put them back in their own place on the table
Ensure that everything remains sterile
After the surgery:
Count all the used and unused instruments, gauze and other tools and inform the surgeon of the count
Helps applying dressing to the surgical site
Transfer the patient to the recovery area
Complete the documentation related to the operation or the patient’s
