The main aim of any firm is to achieve the mission while having competitive advantage to guarantee minimizing cost and maximizing profits. It’s very important to have a good marketing and finance systems but studies proved that its more effective if you also have a well-designed operation management(production/service) system. The most important key point to design an operation system Design of goods and services Managing quality Process and capacity Location strategy Layout strategy Human resources and job design Supply chain management Inventory management Scheduling Maintenance
We will focus in this case on the layout factor and how it can improve the performance of the firm, since the work place layout is a source of competitive advantage and has a great impact (tangible like dimensions, height, decorations and intangible like sounds and echo, lighting, vision horizons, touches of beauty ) on the employees , the customers and as a result on the business. in our case study new hospital building is to be designated, The objective of layout strategy is to develop a cost-effective layout that will meet a firm’s competitive needs and achieving their mission “for better serving” the most important Considerations while planning the new building 1/5
