1.What were two major influences on German Baroque music? How did these factors influence the music? The church and the state, these factors influenced the music because that’s where they were from and the church preaching put ideas into their songs
2.How did music differ before and after Bach? After bach died music took a different turn and people started composing music with many instruments and he left a legacy that summarized his life and brought baroque music to its peak.

They use instruments such as harpischords, lots of violins, and clavichord. People today still sometimes use violins but the beats and instruments sound very different then what we hear today.

8.After listening to some of the music samples, how would you describe Baroque music to someone who had not heard it before? Choose at least one piece of music to discuss in detail. What instruments do you think the work uses? Who composed the work? What does the work sound like? If I had to describe the music to someone who had never heard it I personally would describe it as very old mature music, very dramatic and emotional. I chose Bach’s opening chorus music sample to discuss. I think he used instruments such as violins, flutes, pianos and a lot of bass in this piece. It sounds gloomy and mysterious.
