ABSTRACT

The purpose of the system is to develop Online Examination System., used to test the Domain knowledge of the students, and employees with respect to the particular technology. The manual procedure used for conducting exam is time consuming process and error prone due to human limitations. The System purpose is to completely automate the old manual procedure of conducting exam to Online Web Based Examination System.

On-Line Examination is web based application for technical evaluation. This application covers evaluation of candidates on different technologies like C, C++, and Java/J2EE and mainly financial exams like FFP (Finance Foundation Program), BFP (Business Foundation Program) and IB (Investment Banking) related to Banking Domain.

INTRODUCTION
Online examinations, sometimes referred as e-examinations, are the examinations conducted through the internet or in an intranet (if within the Organization) for a remote candidate(s). Most of the examinations issue results as the candidate finish the examination, when there is an answer processing module also included within the system.These examinations are conducted as open-book typeexaminations. Candidate is given a limited time to answer the questions and after the time expiry the answer paper is disabled automatically and answers is Sent to the examiner. The examiner will evaluate answers, either through automated process or manually and the results will be sent to the candidate through email or made available in the web site.Today many organizations are conducting online examinationsworldwide successfully and issue results online.     Developing an online system requires a series of tests and revision to ensure that the system effectively works. To illustrate the development of the system, a simplified version of the spiral life-cycle model was used. The spiral model combines the iterative nature of rapid prototyping in which the researchers established an understanding of the system and its objectives as well as its functionality, ability to accommodate change, constraints, and other alternatives in achieving those objectives. In the specification phase, the researchers defined the system requirements, conducted cost analysis, and defined some theories and concepts such as the Patterned Recognition Approach and Negotiation Approach. Following the specification phase was the design phase in which the researchers made a blueprint of the system to make the implementation phase much easier. The implementation phase is the actual development of the system. After implementing the system, the post-delivery maintenance phase followed. The researchers distributed a copy of the system to the enrollment officers for them to test the functionality of the system. For any changed requirements, the specification phase up to the post-delivery maintenance phase was repeated. When all requirements were fully satisfied, the researchers proceeded to the retirement phase.…
