Ever since Plato founded the school of Athens during the days of Ancient Greece, and students have been taught by a teacher face to face in a classroom. Now we live in a time where technology dominates the education landscape. Slowly we are phasing out the pencil and paper for iPads tablets. Now I’m a firm believer that computers and tablets have made school life so much easier, but one thing I believe that should stay the same is the classroom setting. Online classes to me are a terrible idea for many people. I think a hands on approach on learning is important because we learn new things with our eyes, hands, and other senses. Sometimes students are faced with problems in which a quick response is necessary in order to understand the subject or problem. I think asking via Email takes too long and sometimes it’s frustrating when you don’t get the correct response.…

Online courses use the same text and other academic materials as the traditional classroom. Although there is no "face to face" communication, there are other ways to communicate that is as effective. E-mails, text messages, classroom forums, and phone calls are the other options that are alternative to the "face to face" communication. Research that I did prove that accredited online courses is just as effective as traditional courses. The main advantage online courses have that is best for me is the flexibility. Since I work full time, I can do my assignments on my own time at my own pace. Online courses can be done anywhere I have my laptop or any computer access. I can perhaps work on my schooling on my lunch break while at work. Any free time I may have during the day are opportunities to do school work. The technology today makes it simple to get an online degree. Many traditional colleges have options for online courses. Online courses represent how education is achieved now and in the future. There are many new professions that are developed based on computers and the internet that requires degrees that can only be earned by using a computer. Online courses may not be for everyone, some may need further assistance that can only available in traditional classes. I am a quick learner and I do not need any further directions besides the initial direction of the assignments. Online courses will be best for me at this time of my…

Traditional classrooms allow interaction with other students and the teacher or instructor. However, in online classes, you’re only another name on the list. In a traditional classroom, if you are having a problem with the assignment or trouble understanding, you can go straight to the teacher for help. You can also ask your classmates for help if the teacher is busy. With online classes, you’d have to e-mail your teacher for help. It’s no guarantee that you’d get a reply immediately. Your teacher could be without Internet connection for a period of time. In such case, you would not be able to get your answers. You also don’t get any interaction with other students taking the same class, which can leave you stuck and on your own. The interaction that a traditional classroom has can…

There are similarities in a traditional classroom and an online setting, however, I will identify the primary differences amongst the two. An online setting allows you more flexibility. It allows you to read and write at your own pace. You do not have to worry about rushing to get dressed for class, finding a baby sitter, deal with finding a parking space, driving to school, carrying a text book from one class to the next, or sitting in a classroom for hours. In addition, you do not have to be in a seat at a particular time (Chambers, 2016). An online setting allows you to take your time to complete assignments so whether you are working on an assignment, you have at your convenience to stop and take a restroom break or lunch break. Also, you have at your convenience to pause lectures and go back to replay lectures at your leisure versus at a traditional setting, if you step out of the classroom for a second you may have missed something important.…

A student sits at a desk taking notes, occasionally watching the clock, a million things running through her mind. Another student sits at a desk at the same time. Knowing a certain thing that has to be done, she gets up from her desk with the promise to return later that evening. The difference: one student is enrolled in online courses. While regular campus courses provide a great education with a friendly-learning environment, online-courses can aid a student in a fast-paced, independent education.…
