One man wishes ‘ I want to be a billionaire ‘ one women wishes ‘I wish I would be healthy and never get ill until the rest of my life’ and many more wishes from every villager. Then all of the wishes will be granted and will work for the rest of their lives so I’m very lucky to born in this village and today is my turn to make a wish. So I wish that ‘I could be the cleverest person in the world’’. When the angel hears me she asks me again that ‘Are you sure with your decision?’ ‘of course, everyone in my school want to be the cleverest person in the world’ I answer so the angel grant my life long wish. And the first day in school, the wish came true! I become the cleverest student in my room and get the highest score in every semester. I am very happy and satisfied with this wish because I get a scholarship to America. I am in the best university in the world, I win the first place of every competitions, I get first class honors (with golden medal) from the university, I work at NASA, I am famous, I have a lot of money and I can buy anything that I want but why deeply inside of me still feels so lonely and sad? Days gone by, on and on I don’t feel excited that I am clever or famous anymore. I just want somebody to take care of me when I get old, to hold each other until we fell asleep but no men like a woman who is smarter, stronger and more successful than him. Now I fully understand the loneliness that I feel deeply inside, The happiness I receive is just short term happiness. It’s not the warmth from being loved by someone. So I decide to go back to ‘one wish’ village again, kneel down and beg the angel that ‘please, I don’t want to be the cleverest person in the world anymore. I want to be an ordinary person that have warm family’. The angel replies to me ‘No, because you have already used you wish, you can’t

But why do I keep thinking about the prophecies, the day I will be crowned, the joy I will share with my dearest partner of greatness, my ambition of obtaining the golden round? In this twisted mind, my present thoughts are nothing but towards the future, the future I desire to achieve. I can hear nothing other than the occasional hoot of a hidden owl. Have I lived like a coward, saying “I can’t” after “I want to”? A man who cannot dare to act the way…

It had been 3 long days into my India trip and I was miserable. I continued to be rude and sleep through my days. I finally had an event I was looking forward to: the elephant ride. Heading up to the Jaipur fort on my baby elephant with a smile becoming plastered on my face as the sun’s light warmed my body, I felt whole. I felt as if all the pain and emptiness left my heart. Then it hit me that I don’t have to be miserable because neither Ben nor my family create my happiness, I do. I made the decision to stop moping around and appreciate where I was and all that my family had done to support me.…

Life was not always easy for me, it gave me challenges, circumstances which were really hard for me to digest. But I somehow completed those challenges and tackled those circumstances. My family always supported me and helped me to meet my goals. I was in a town of the World’s seventh largest country, India, where people care about each other, they feel for each other. This was the time when I was in middle school, I was a moderate student in the class, so in exam days, me and my friends used to do sleep overs at my home and we all used to study together. We did everything together, we played together, we learned everything together, I was enjoying that time a lot. But I was constantly frightened of one thing in my lifetime; “never…

I realized that through assiduous toil, I can make myself special and known in this world. Life was too short and dear, and to leave this world unknown to others, just an ordinary man that lived his life was not an option that I was willing to accept. I did not want to have the same job as others, the same insipid family as others, the same dull lifestyle as others, and the same death as others. “No,” I said. I won’t die in this world without my name engraved in people’s soul, without my thoughts and ideas influencing many generations to come. I will be special through hard work and achieve glory and success. With success, I will spread my fame throughout many generations to come. I will be remembered. My ideas will be discussed and debated among others. My thoughts will be used as a tool for motivating young minds. I will be a role model and a symbol of success. Life is a onetime chance, and I intend to not lose it but use it to my full extent. It is utterly terrifying to live and die like…

Being unhappy and depressed is no way to live life. There is not enough time to dwell on sad thoughts when there are other things in the world that could be enjoyed. “Birth is sorrow, age is sorrow, disease is sorrow, death is sorrow; contact with the unpleasant is sorrow, separation from the pleasant is sorrow, every wish unfulfilled is sorrow — in short all the five components of individuality are sorrow” (Reilly 2007: 198). The Noble Truth of the Arising of Sorrow describes self-indulgence and materialistic things in life. “It arises from craving, which leads to rebirth, which brings delight and passion, and seeks pleasure now here, now there — the craving for sensual pleasure, the craving for continued life, the craving for power” (Reilly 2007: 198). Then the Noble Truth of the Stopping of Sorrow, which is better described as the homeless state, or enlightenment. “It is the complete stopping of that craving, so that no passion remains, leaving it, being emancipated from it, being released from it, giving no place to it” (Reilly 2007:…

If we want to reach our dreams, we have to remember to be realistic. One thing the majority of people do in order to visualize the path to their dreams is they set goals for themselves whether it’s a career goal or some other lifetime goal. Setting goals has proven to be very effective but we also have to realize that our dreams won’t be achieved easily. We have to remember that just because we want something bad enough doesn’t mean we’ve made it happen yet. It’s just a goal until we finally bring those ideas and goals to full fruition. In the essay titled “Turn a Wish Into a Triumph”, Joel Wade discusses how when we picture ourselves with our goals achieved, we begin to falsely believe that we have actually achieved them. Then we begin to lose our drive.…

Many people in this world live their lives without any aspirations towards greatness. They think that they don’t stand a chance of fulfilling any of the dreams or goals they might have. Their idea of “dreams coming true” are far from their imagination and stick around with the absurd idea of keeping their feet in the ground and stop day dreaming or even think about it. A paradoxical idea appeared in the first stanza of the poem seems to be effectively united since the illustration is clearly demonstrated. The paradoxical idea is that those who do not succeed will understand the joy of success more than those who have tasted success. It is implied that the sweetness also requires people to experience the „sorest need‟ which is in fact, its opposite.…

I woke in my sunken bed, just lying there not keeping track of time. An hour could have left or maybe it was five slow minutes ticking away but I did not care to know. I wake up every morning. What is the accomplishment in that? It’s the middle of May and I will not get up because of this. The weather is too nice, and the people outside are too happy. It would take too much energy (out of the little I have) to go outside and put effort into faking the cheerfulness that they are feeling. I look out of my white, worn down window pane and watch the people feel, hoping that I can feel too just by observing them. However, I am expressionless; emotionless. I peer out with this solitude permanently painted on my pale face.…
