Olivia In Arthur Miller's Twelfth Night
These are 5 accounts of how Olivia was held, and ended up on floor. Which to believe? We have 3 from school staff which use terms: held behind her back, restrained, remove from situation, relocate, escort, etc. all prim, proper and by the book. And then 2 are from students, who use the terms put in a headlock, and holding in a full nelson (it is considered that restraint's such as these are very dangerous because of possible spinal cord injuries). We tend to believe the students accounts more so than the school staff, why:
First, and foremost, is because the students statements were taken moments after the incident occured, and the students gave these statements independently of each other. The students had not been together to discuss the

He sees Mr. Reese holding Olivia in a full nelson and sees them fall to the ground. Joseph reacts to what he is seeing in the same manner I believe most any man would, he goes at Mr. Reese and attempts to free Olivia.
We now have 2 students, Joseph and Aaron, both of whom have no previous disciplinary reports of violence/beligerance, reacting in the same manner, independently of each other, to what they are seeing happening to Olivia at the hands of Mr. Reese.
Why would the school not include Coach Madison's statement in any of the procedings against Joseph? The only reason we have his statement is because it was included in the procedings against Olivia, where we represented Olivia. This, despite the fact we on numerous occasions asked not only the school, but also the Discipline Office of MNPS for all statements and evidence about this incident.
Why have we never seen Mr. Thompson's statement about the incident?
Why did Aaron have no disciplinary action pursued against him, even though he was removed from school on the day of the incident, and not allowed back until Wednesday 2/8/17. Following a Restoritive Conference with his parent on 2/9/17 his behavioral records now show he was disciplined for Cutting Class over this time

While many will agree that Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is critically acclaimed to be one of the most entertaining and well-liked pieces that he has written, there tends to be a discrepancy over how the characters in the play are portrayed when it comes to the importance of gender roles. After reading James C Bulman’s article over the Globe’s more recent performance of Twelfth Night and Shakespeare’s original written version, I realized that there are many ways that this famous piece has been portrayed and each has its own pros and cons.…

Breaking down the case being highlighted here, Christine Franklin was a sophomore at North Gwinnett High School back in 1986. While attending that year, she claimed to have been sexually harassed by Andrew Hill, who was a coach at the school. Franklin claimed sexual activity was unsolicited and that Hill forced her into such acts. Hill was accused of engaging her in sexual conversation, in which he asked her of her experiences with her boyfriend and if she would consider having intercourse with an older man. Hill was stated to have kissed her forcefully, calling her at home, asking her to meet him socially, asking other teachers to have her excused from their classes. Most notably, he took her into a private office and subjected her to coercive intercourse.…

Regardless of what the court said, it is my understanding that a school district is not responsible for providing services to a student outside of the normal school hours. However, it is also important to note that each student has goals that are written in the context of a student’s IEP. If the school district is seeing progress in the student’s goals, there is no need for further action. In the…

On December 11th, 1990, Christine Franklin filed a lawsuit against the Gwinnett County Public School system. During her sophomore year in high school at Gwinnett High School, she was continually harassed sexually by her economics teacher Andrew Hill. Mr. Hill would kiss her, feel on her, and constantly try to engage in inappropriate sexual conversations with Franklin. Franklin first went to staff at the school. Nothing was done. Franklin told the administration on the Board of Education and they begged for no charges to be pressed on the school because they didn’t want a bad reputation or for the incident to publicize. Instead, Mr. Hill offered to resign from teaching if no charges were pressed, so the school looked past the whole thing.…

Rational- The student is right. The state did not follow the Due Process law because they did not give him a notice saying why he would be suspended and gave him no hearing to defend himself. They did not give the student a chance to explain himself and tell his side of story. They also did not have proper evidence to support the allegation. A teacher’s word is not enough. How do we know the teacher was not making things up? The student has the right to attend the university and make them document the misconduct. The student also has the right to refuse an allegation and ask…

A seventeen-year old student at Central High School in Bristol, Virginia by the name of Suzie sent her boyfriend, Cyrus, inappropriate photographs of herself. Once the relationship ended Cyrus sent the photographs to upperclassmen boys at their high school. The boys are now noticing Suzie for ways that both Suzie as well as her parents are not okay with. To attempt to eliminate the problem Suzie’s parents included Mrs. Sheevers, the school Principal, in the problem. After Cyrus denied the accusation of sending out the photographs to other boys, Mrs. Sheevers commanded the school officer to search Cyrus’ phone for any trace of the pictures. Not finding the phone, the principal then searched Cyrus’ school locker where she found the phone with the pictures on it. In response to this Cyrus was then suspended for two weeks. Although the Virginia Statehouse Court and the Federal District Courts verdict was that the Bristol School District is not guilty, the appeal at the Supreme Court granted Cyrus a…

Those who support the zero tolerance policy believe that the policy is effective in reducing violence in school. Atkinson argues that “strict policies are needed to send a clear message and are designed to protect students” (2). Agreeing with Atkinson, Richard Curwin and Allen Mendler, scholars on the zero tolerance policy, believe that by using the zero tolerance policies, it is evident to students that aggressive behavior is unacceptable. By allowing the students to realize that misbehavior will not be tolerated, students become more likely to obey the rules and cooperate with schools (1). According to the National Center for Children Exposed to Violence (NCCEV), 17.1% of students carried weapons at school and 71% of elementary and secondary schools have experienced at least one violent crime by a student. A nationwide survey suggested that 15% of students have been involved in a physical fight on school grounds. By using the zero tolerance policy, those students who are violent in school are expelled or suspended, resulting…
