Olive Lai described that her mother had a normal pregnancy with Olive Lai. Olive Lai noted that she was a full term baby and delivered via natural birth. She was not aware of complications during labor and delivery. Olive Lai reported that she weighed approximately 8 pounds. Olive Lai further reported that she met all developmental milestones in a timely manner.
Olive Lai has received psychological counseling. Olive Lai was first seeing a counselor because Finn’s suggestion. Olive Lai reported that Finn suggested her to see a counselor because Finn realized that Olive has became not as happy as before, and seemed “feeling down” for multiple days in a week. Olive Lai indicated that she first went
Olive Lai mentioned that she went to the elementary school, and middle school in Taiwan where she was always one of the top ten students in her class. Olive described that she had to study really hard to be one of the top ten students in middle school because it was very competitive. She also reported that she had a lot of pressure from her parents when she was in the middle school because her parents always have very high expectation of her. After middle school, Olive attended an all female high school which is also one of the top ten schools in Taiwan for only a semester before she moved to the U.S. Olive reported that she was not happy in the high school because she felt that she was not as good as other students who are in the same school, and she reported that she is always one of the students who are not able to pass an exam, and she experienced a lot more stress when she was in high school. Olive was then moved to the U.S. where she attend a local high school. Olive indicated that although she was able to understand the material in high school in the U.S., she was still having a hard time because she did not understand English. She was not able to make friends due to the English barrier and she did not feel like she belongs to the United States. Olive reported that her sister was her biggest support system when she was in high
Olive Lai was friendly and cooperative throughout testing. Olive Lai appeared calm, and sometimes confused during testing. Olive reported that she did not understand some of the vocabularies in the tests so that the evaluator had to explain to her. This happened multiple times when she was taking the CPI assessment. Rapport was easily established and maintained throughout testing. During both days of testing, Olive Lai requested frequent breaks during testing. This also appeared more frequently when she was taking the CPI test. Olive Lai appeared to have a positive attitude during testing. Olive Lai’s level of focus and effort were appropriate although she was having some difficulties understanding the testing
