1. Enrollment capacity: 8 2. Application requirements A person of Vietnamese citizenship fulfilling one of the following conditions: (1) Has received a Bachelor’s degree in any major related to Environmental Science and Agricultural Science. There is a broad range of permissible majors. N O T E : Refer to 8 . ( 3 ) for master’s thesis research themes. (2) Is expected to receive a Bachelor’s degree in the above mentioned majors by September 2013. 3. Required documents for application (1) Application form (Use the official application form attached) (2)Official academic records issued by the institution from which an applicant graduated or is expected to graduate (both in English and in Vietnamese) (3) English certificate of TOEFL (International or Institutional), TOEIC or IELTS (4) Any one of the following: --Summary of the graduation thesis --Summary of the current research (if already graduated*) --Summary of the current occupation (if already graduated*) (5) Summary of your interest research/topic (If it is different with your graduation thesis, current research or current occupation) N O T E : Summary must be in English, one A4-size page. Figures and tables can be included. Refer to “9 . I n s t r u c t i o n s - - - - “ f o r d e t a i l s . 9 *Summary of graduation thesis is acceptable if applicant has graduated within one year of application. (6) Summary of purpose statement in this program and after this program (about 300 words in English at the end of the application form) (7) Certificate of graduation (both in English and in Vietnamese) (8) Health certificate 4. Application procedure All required documents must be submitted b y p o s t until the deadline of the 1 July, 2013 to Okayama University Office in Hue, 03 Le Loi Street, Hue City, Vietnam. 5. Selection procedures of the entrance examination (1) Review of the required documents (first screening) (2) Interview in English (final screening): (2-1) Five-minute presentation using PowerPoint about the above required document 3 . ( 4 ) (2-2) Questions about the above presentation and the applicant’s statement of purpose (the above required document 3 . ( 5 ) ) *The entrance examination fee is free. 6. Schedule until enrollment 2013 May 31 (Fri.) to July 1 (Mon.) July 22 (Mon.) August 6 (Tue.) August 12 (Mon.) Aug. 19 (Mon.) to Sept. 2 (Mon.) September 16 (Mon.) 7. Program Expenses Tuition: Okayama University tuition is waived for all students in this program during their period of study at Okayama University. Hue University tuition is USD 1,500 for study at Hue University for three semesters. Scholarship: Provided by Okayama University (up to 12 months) to all students in this program during their period of study at Okayama University. Travel Allowance: Okayama University pays travel expenses from Hue to Okayama for all students in this program. Students who complete the program successfully and return to Vietnam without any extension of stay in Japan will be given travel expenses for their return trip. 8. Program Description (1) T h e f i r s t y e a r (from September 2013 to August 2014) at Hue University: Enroll in all the courses below. The curriculum is co-designed by Okayama University and Hue University. The student’s major will be determined after the first semester. Common core courses: Forest Ecology, Environmental Soil Science, Environmental Irrigation System, Statistics and GIS for Agricultural Environment, Regional Planning and Resource Management. Courses for Rural Environmental Management Major: Environmental Hydrology, Environmental Hydraulics, Sustainability of Energy and Resources, Solid waste Management, Aquacultural Ecology Courses for Agricultural Development Major: Animal Nutrition and Feed Science, Animal Reproduction, Crop Production Science, Integrated Pest Management, Plant Genetics and Breeding, Horticultural Crop Production. (2) P r e l i m i n a r y S t a g e (from September 2014 to March 2015) at Hue University Japanese language education and preparatory research for the master’s thesis (3) T h e s e c o n d y e a r (from April 2015 to March 2016) at Okayama University Research for the master’s thesis: Research themes are chosen from studies related to the above courses, except for Aquacultural Ecology. 9. Instructions for application documents (4) Summary of graduation thesis or, summary of current research or occupation (if already graduated) One A4-size page, all margins are 25 mm, use Times New Roman font, standard letter size is 10.5 point except the title of 12 point. Applicant’s name is followed after the title with a line space. Summary begins after the name with a line space. Figures and/or tables can be included.
