Yo yo yo this is John from Texas talks on air and this is our first run on air. Today we will start of with oil and how this played a big role in the economy.
1901 Beaumont Texas this is first instant that oil actual spills out everywhere as in 100 feet up and went about 2 days then they could finally collect it. This is a very important part in history and you know what if i could go back and see this i would. Now lets fast forward 23 years later half the country has cars and oil is the price of candy. The government figures out that university of Texas has a giant amount of oil under them just waiting to be pulled up so they tell them and they become very wealthy. Let's say T and M are married and T is a wild cater but he's not getting his oil so he gets frustrated and takes it out on his wife. Well they get in a fight and have a bigger chance of not getting along and eventually they divorce all because the T wasn't getting the oil he needed. Now lets leave that matter and go to doc c where it is about civil rights, this is a little off topic but it's an document that i got to talk about. Blacks and Mexican Americans are not getting equal pay so the move to midland where there pay is almost double than previous also oil jobs opened. Willsie Lee Mckinney was a back who was affected by this and says that “the thing that caused me to stop here in 1949...I could make a dollar an hour for domestic work. If i worked 10 hours that day, i had 10 dollars”. Blacks were finally getting real jobs but more will happen in the future, now let's go to are last doc doc d where we talks about the Wink football team. The Wink football team won all there 1938 games because of oil, Wink had lots of oil and the reason they won their games is oil.
