Biology 1020 Homework Assignment
- Due Friday, May 3rd (Late work will not be accepted)
- Worth 10% of your overall grade
- There is a zero tolerance policy for cheating. If anybody copies material straight from the internet, the book, or any other source (including another student) you will fail the assignment and the class. You must include a work cited page to get full credit.
- Grading will be based on the following criteria: 1) The ability to interpret the information into your own words. 2) The amount of effort put into the assignment. 3) Accuracy of information. 4) The more detailed your answers are, the more points you will accumulate.

Be able to answer the following questions to the best of your ability:
1) Describe (in your own words) how an action potential is transmitted from the axon terminal (pre-synaptic membrane) to an excited muscle (post-synaptic membrane). Be sure to include all electrolytes (minerals) and neurotransmitters that are used for the transmission of the action potential. Optional drawings can be included.
2) Explain the female monthly cycle including the ovarian and uterine cycles. Be sure to include the Follicular Phase and the Luteal Phase for the ovarian cycle and the menstrual, proliferation, and secretory phases for the uterine cycle. Clearly define the fluctuation and usage of hormones during these two cycles. Optional drawings can be included.
