Ohio State University Hospital: Database Analysis
The current practicum site, the Ohio State University Hospital (OSU) use a system called “Epic.” Epic is a company that creates software for various medical groups, hospitals, in addition to integrated health care organizations (Epic, 2015). Founded in 1979, Epic is easy to use, exceedingly interoperable, fast to implement software through industry standards (Epic, 2015). Electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) information securely shared as it is endorsed and adopted by Epic (Epic, 2015). The name of the EHR/EMR that is provided by Epic and used by this hospital is called “Integrated health care information system” (IHIS). IHIS used by nursing and patient care documentation.
