OFFICE LAYOUTS

OPEN PLAN OFFICE
• The open plan office is a large open room which is no dividing or partitions.
• Road Transport Department also found an open work area.
• Employees gathered in a large area to facilitate the monitoring carried out.
• This section will accommodate Executive Officer, Chief Clerk, Clerk and Office Assistant. Staff will be monitored by the Executive Officer and Chief Clerk.

ADVANTAGE OF OPEN-PLAN OFFICE
• Most appreciate the sense of community that an open work environment can support
• Open space allows for better communication and exchange of information among co-workers. It is easier to ask each other question in open environment.
• Some employees prefer being among other people, not wanting to feel ‘closed in; or ‘all alone’.
• The open work environment allows some to know what’s ‘going on’ in the off being ‘in the know’.

DISADVANTAGE OF OPEN-PLAN OFFICE
• Lack of privacy for confidentiality discussion
• Workers can be distributed by noise from other workers

ENCLOSED OFFICE
• Enclosed offices consist of small individual rooms occupied by one or two people.
• In Road Transport Department, only certain positions that will sit in the room.
• Most of them have not shared a room with another officer.
• This will give them more privacy.
• Officer stationed in the room is made up of the Director-General, Assistant Director General, Division Director, Assistant Director and Chief Regulatory Officer.

ADVANTAGE OF ENCLOSED OFFICES
• The idea of having walls around you, keeping roving eyes from drifting over to your work and your space makes some feel secure.
• Another key benefit of working in an enclosed space is the reduction in noise.
• For some an enclosed space also translates into a larger amount of floor space.

DISADVANTAGE OF ENCLOSED OFFICES
• Difficult to supervise all workers at the same time
• Only the higher composition can use this enclosed
