Off-campus Jobs for International Students
Lots of American students would like to find jobs while they are at college or even earlier. Unfortunately, international students in the USA aren’t allowed to work. It is unfair to those who come here with dreams. International students should be allowed to work off-campus. The limit on-campus jobs are hard to find. And the opportunity to get work experience should be available to all students.
In recent years, college graduates had found it increasing tough to find a job or a way to realize their life goals and make their dreams come true. However, based on current labor market conditions, there are not enough opportunities available; students are hardly to find jobs.

English is a second language for them. Even most international students come here with good language test scores, but still have trouble in communicating. They are shy, and afraid to talk with others. In class, they always sit at their desk, quietly listening, and barely raising their hands to answer questions. They probably worry about saying something wrong, or having trouble describing their own ideas, so they remain silent. This will change after they get a job. Jobs allowing them to talk freely with more people, letting them learn how to communicate. Lack of confidence is the biggest barrier to assimilation to a new way of life in this country. And most international students would like to stay with others who have the same nationality. It makes them feel more comfortable. But it doesn’t help them to make more friends, or relate to their new community. Though a job lets them work directly with more people. It also pushes them to communicate with people to prove their speaking skills. They will get used to talking only in English. Study should be the only aim. According to law, all international students on an F-1 visa must be enrolled in 12 credits each semester. This means their courses will take up a lot of time. They won’t be able to give their courses undivided attention if have a part-time job. That’s why off-campus work is not the best option. It’s reasonable that international students aren’t allowed off-campus by law. When they apply for an on-campus job, the officer usually asks for their class schedule and will arrange the work for their free time, never encroaching on their studying time.
