Oestrous Cycle Of Bitches
The oestrous cycle of Canis lupus familiaris differs considerably

from that of other species. The domestic bitch is a monoestrous, typically non-seasonal, polytocous, spontaneous ovulator.( Concannon , 2010)

Which means the oestrous cycle is characterized by a follicular phase with spontaneous ovulation, followed by a luteal phase of about 75 days and a non-seasonal anoestrus of 2–10 months (Schaefers-Okkens AC, 2005)

Pseudocyesis (PSC), pseudopregnancy, false pregnancy or nervous lactation is a physiological syndrome defined by similar signs to those observed during the post-partum period (Allen 1986; Nelson 1996). The intensity of these symptoms is extremely variable among bitches. The dog is the only domestic animal with a CL lifespan

    17. The female gonads, or ovaries, under the influence of FSH, develop mature folliclescontaining an oocyte. The follicle cells secrete the hormone estrogen that causes the lining of the uterus to build up. A LH spike causes ovulation, and the surrounding follicle tissue develops into a corpus luteum that now also makes progesterone. Under the influence of progesterone, the lining of the uterus develops secretions to sustain an early embryo. If there is no production ofGnRH by the early embryo, the corpus luteum shrinks and the lining of the uterus sloughs in the process called…

The egg which is the ripest is released and this process is known as ovulation. The fallopian tubes then suck up the egg, which then goes through the ovaries and ends up in the uterus. Every woman’s ovulation depends on their cycle’s duration. However, the average length of ovulation is typically between 12 to 14 days before the individuals’ next period. On average, an egg can live for almost 24 hours after it’s been released, however it would need to be fertilised by the sperm so that a baby is conceived. In addition, if the egg is fertilised by a healthy sperm when it’s on its way to the uterus, this is when the process of creating a new life…

This process all starts with the life of a female human being. When a female child is born they are born with all the ova they will ever have throughout their life, which is about 2 million. After about 15-17 years that child is more developed and goes through a stage in their life called puberty. Only about 400, 00 of the 2 million Ova make it through this stage in a women’s life. I was lucky enough to be one of those 400, 00 who made it through. After this stage myself and the remaining ova resided in a thin capsule inside the women’s ovaries called the follicle. When the woman has reached her reproductive years and the ova have reached their full ripened potential they will be released in hopes of fertilization. There are only about 400 ripened ova that typically make it to possible fertilization. This is roughly 1ova per month (Rathus, S. A., Nevid, J.S., & Fichner-Rathus, L 2011) and today is my day, the day I have been planning my whole life. Today is the day Adam and I will embark on a journey to create a life.…
