Odyssey

The idea that physical pleasure is enough will be an everlasting overarching topic. This is because with one indulgence of physical pleasure one will then be lead to the temptation to continuously act on this motive. In the Odyssey, main character, Odysseus left his wife, Penelope, for a journey and did not return until twenty years later. During this time Odysseus shared his love with numerous other woman, continuously falling into the temptation of physical pleasure. While in modern times, professional golfer, Tiger Woods, endured in the same actions as Odysseus, being unfaithful to his wife also falling into the temptation of physical pleasure. The idea that physical pleasure is enough is an allegory because, once one engages in an act of physical pleasure they will be tempted to partake in it again.
While being on his “heroic” journey, Odysseus meets many powerful women and indulges in some very interactive events with them. Throughout Odysseus’ journey he seems to prove the point that physical pleasure cannot serve as to being enough for only one time. In books one to twelve Odysseus sleeps with multiple women and continues his acts through books thirteen to nineteen by sleeping with Athena. Odysseus proves physical pleasure is only enough for a certain amount of time leaving it to be not enough. Along with Odysseus, international golf star, Tiger Woods faced many of the same situations as Odysseus. Unlike Odysseus Tiger Woods was not sent on a heroic journey, but he was put into fame leading him into the temptation to entertain society by taking part in physical pleasure. Tiger Woods was completely unfaithful to his wife, sleeping around not only normal women but also with other well-known figures and porn stars. Tiger Woods is also a prime example of how physical pleasure is only enough for a certain amount of time until the heart craves for more.
The overarching question of whether or not physical pleasure is enough arises very frequently not only in
