Odd Girl Out Stacey's Cliques In A Walk To Remember
A clique is a small group of people with the same interests who spend most of their time together and exclude others. There are cliques in both of the moves we watched this year. Most people believe that in Odd Girl Out Stacey was the leader of the clique, but that wasn’t necessarily the case. Stacey started out by having complete power but as she started to sympathize with Vanessa, Nikki threatened her power. Overall the clique was very exclusive and they mocked anyone who wasn’t part of their group. They found Vanessa as a threat so they made her a target even though she was part of this clique. They made her believe that she was overweight when she was actually average weight. In A Walk to Remember, Landon was part of a clique for a …show more content…
In the beginning they made Clay Gephardt jump into that river so that he could be a part of their clique. They also made fun of people who were different like Jamie. They bullied her because she was different and she didn’t want to be them like everyone else. There’s positive and negative peer pressure in both movies. Positive peer pressure pressures other people to do good things. Jamie had a positive influence on Landon because of positive peer pressure. Before Jamie, Landon didn’t care about school or other people’s feelings, but after Jamie he learned that school is important and so are people’s feelings. Thanks to Jamie he becomes more determined and sets really challenging goals for himself. He raises his grades and goes to medical school which would never be possible if Jamie was not there.
There is negative peer pressure in Odd Girl Out. The first sign of negative peer pressure is when Stacey and Nikki pressured Vanessa into shoplifting. Stealing is against the law, and Vanessa was even hesitant, but Nikki pressured her into doing it by saying that if she was a good friend she would do it. Vanessa knew it was wrong, but she didn’t want to upset Stacey because she just bought her

90210 goes over many concepts of developmental psychology. I would rate the TV show an 8/10 because there are certain aspects of the show that are realistic to other teenagers. Still, there are many exaggerations to this show. To start off, Annie and Wilson are attending a new school, this causes anxiety for anyone. Making new friends, meeting new teachers and trying to belong is stressful for anyone. When Annie is introduced to her new class a student named George calls her a “narc”. This goes to show that the anxiety of Annie being new is acceptable because of the way she might be and was treated. In every high school there are always a group of friends that hang out with each other or also known as cliques. A clique is “a group of several…

Although John lacks restraint, he does have Developmental Asset Positive Peer Influence, which is having someone that has a friend that has a good influence on you. John’s best friend Lorraine is his good influence. Proof that Lorraine is a positive influence is, “I didn’t want anyone really to take advantage of the old man,” (29). She doesn’t want to take the ten dollars from the old man because she felt bad about lying. She didn’t allow John to steal the money, and made him give it back. Another thing she said proving she’s a good influence is, “I tried to explain to him how dangerous it was, particularly smoking, and even went through the trouble of finding a case history similar to his in a book Sigmund Freud,” (8). This proves that she is trying to be a positive influence and cares about his health because she knows it will hurt him and make…

The movie that this book no doubt reminds me of is the Breakfast Club. In each there are five completely different characters who get paired up unknowingly. In the movie the characters meet in detention. In the book the characters are paired up during freshman orientation. Some of the characters even bear resemblance to characters in the movie. Whitney strongly reminds me of the pampered Claire, while Jake reminds me of the jock Andrew. Mia bears slight resemblance to the outcast Allison, and Gregor reminds me of the nerd Brian. However, the delinquent John and the famous Zoe show no relation.…

Selfishness, jealousy, envy and greed. These are the images portrayed by the characters of 'The Club'. In essence, they are driven by self-interest, willing to compromise personal and institutional integrity for personal greed and gain. All six characters demonstrate this in one way or another - from the obvious egocentricity of Jock and Gerry to the seemingly loyal and unfaltering Laurie: firstly in his previous ploy to eventually oust Jock and then…

Within a cast, there were subgroups. Those groups were usually composed of people in the same year and people who had the same attitude regarding the play we were in. For example, a clique within Radium Girls contained several sophomores who did not enjoy being in the play. This was I suppose, partly due to the fact that they were disrespected by a senior castmate who complained about them behind their backs frequently. These subgroups directly contribute to the divide between the cast, which in turn leads to the typical drama and gossip one thinks of when they hear about high school…

In this film there’s a lot of judging. For example, the popular kids were always sticking together and judging the way Jamie was. They judged her by her looks and thought of her as a quiet girl with no personality because she wasn’t like them. However, when she changed her appearance for the play, they all saw that she looked completely different. Landon’s friends didn’t believe that Landon would ever leave them for a girl, especially not Jaime Sullivan, the quiet and “geeky” girl.…

Peer pressure refers to the influence exerted by a peer group in encouraging a person to change his or her attitudes, values, or behavior in order to conform to group norms. Social groups affected include membership groups, when the individual is "formally" a member (for example, political party, trade union),or a social clique. A person affected by peer pressure may or may not want to belong to these groups. They may also recognize dissociative groups with which they would not wish to associate, and thus they behave adversely concerning that group's behaviors. Peer pressure is when "friends" persuade you to doing something that you do not want to do. But maybe you want to do it, and you just don't have the courage to do it and your friends talk you into it.…
