Geology Week 1 QuestionsHow do you think the principle of uniformitarianism accounts for occasional catastrophic events such as meteorite impacts, huge volcanic eruptions, or great earthquakes? -The principle of uniformitarianism accounts for catastrophic events because the earthquakes, meteorite, and volcanic eruption that have already happened left behind making that help us understand what made it happened. So with the help of the past we know what to look for and can tell when a volcano is close to erupting, or other catastrophic events like this. Now, this is not always the case but the principle of uniformitarianism helps us for the future of understanding the earth. In what ways do geologic processes affect your daily life?

-The geologic process affects our life on a daily basis in many different ways. I do not believe that people really understand or appreciate all the things we get from our planet, and they will not appreciate it until it is no longer here. The geological process helps us predict when natural disasters may happen, how bad the earth is with global warming and what will happen if we do not stop polluting the world. The geologic process also helps regulate when glaciers are melting, when sea levels are high or low, and also the global temperature. Would you expect minerals on Mars or Venus to be the same, or at least very similar, to those on Earth? - Since the moon and the earth are closer than it is to other planets then it probably developed around the same time of one another. This would cause the resultin common minerals being in both places. Since Mars and Venus are the closest planted to the earth then I am sure that they also had the...
