Occupational Therapy Career Essay

I was 13, coming back from a trip my family took to Mexico over the weekend. We just crossed the border to get back to the Unites States. We stopped at a light when all of a sudden a shock ran down my spine. I had just experienced my first serious accident, a car rammed the back of my father's truck. My entire family gravely injured their backs during the situation. Because of the accident we visited a spine specialist, we were recommended ten therapy sessions with physical and occupational therapist. During that time I witnessed my family recuperate. At that moment occupational therapy seemed as a rational and inspiring career for my future.
By witnessing an occupational therapy it allowed me to understand how important the career was in order to help individuals. Without the help of the therapist, my family wouldn't have correctly recovered from the accident. My mother was the most injured from everyone and without that help of the therapist my mother would have been placed on disability, unable to work or provide for my family. After my sophomore year in high school I recognized my calling in life was to assist individuals that were injured. I wanted a career where my work could change the lives of many people that are in a low
I remember speaking to my mother about the decision to becoming an occupational therapist, she was concerned about the salary of the career , however, the salary wasn't an importance to me . All I cared about was helping others and changing lives for the better. After further research, I realized that the salary of a occupational therapist was extremely high and allows me schedule my appointments while work in many different locations. The only degrees needed to become an occupational therapist are BA or BS and a master’s. Therefore, I believe that occupational therapy ended up becoming the most suitable
