Occupational Therapists: A Case Study

In my opinion, it’s crucial for occupational therapists to include the needs and abilities of family members in their assessments. Most of the time family members are the primary caregivers to the patients or clients. According to Law, Baum, and Dunn (2005), “The providers of care, spouses, partners, siblings, children, or friends are critical to the long term recovery” p (93). Additionally, family members who are caregivers also have to deal with other work and family responsibilities which can be a challenge to balance (Law, Baum, and Dunn, 2005).
