The boy saw her coming toward him down the crowded high school hallway. Students were opening and closing lockers and trying to get to class on time, however he did not move, he just stared. “Here comes my next girlfriend,” he thought, “I will have her no matter what it takes.” With his face flushed and his heart pounding, he speaks to her as she passes. She gives him a slight smile and a quick hello, and the game is set in motion.
At first he watches her every move, who she talks to, what her class schedule is. He makes sure that he is near when her classes end and walks her to her next class gradually staking his claim. She realizes that she does not have the same feelings for the boy that she did when they first started dating. The relationship has become like an obligation. One day they were on a supply run and she enlightens him.
“I will continue to help your dad as long as he needs me,” she says, “but I want out of the relationship for good this time.”
He does not take the news well and he warns her that if she will not be with him then she will not be with anyone. As they are meeting an oncoming trailer truck, he grabs the steering wheel and jerks it into the opposite lane. With no time for her to react, they hit the truck head on.
“Am I dead or am I dreaming,” the girl asks herself. She feels like she is hovering over her body while doctors and nurses are frantically working. She watches as they try to put her back together and bring life back into her unresponsive body. She can hear them demanding her to come back and

He tried to kill me!” The girl waits until everyone leaves and she is alone with her mother. Her mother listens patiently as she relates the ugly details of both the accident and her relationship with the boy. Shocked and heartbroken for her daughter, her mother consoles her and tells her that nothing was her fault. They agree that it would be best to keep this information just between them because it would only hurt the people that were already suffering. She questions how she will ever be able to trust another boy again. Her mother assures her that time will heal her and that she will find the right boy one
