At first he watches her every move, who she talks to, what her class schedule is. He makes sure that he is near when her classes end and walks her to her next class gradually staking his claim. She makes the decision to give him one more chance.
The boy’s father has asked her to come help in their country store. She agrees to help with reservations. She realizes that she does not have the same feelings for the boy that she did when they first started dating. The relationship has become like an obligation. One day they were on a supply run and she enlightens him.
“I will continue to help your dad as long as he needs me,” she says, “but I want out of the relationship for good this time.”
He does not take the news well and he warns her that if she will not be with him then she will not be with anyone. As they are meeting an oncoming trailer truck, he grabs the steering wheel and jerks it into the opposite lane. With no time for her to react, they hit the truck head on.
