My favorite animals are owls and wolves. So, when I found that there were no constellations of owls (there should be, though, in my opinion), I chose the constellation of the wolf, or Lupus. This constellation also reminds me of Professor Lupin, who was also my favorite Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in the Harry Potter books. I think that J. K. Rowling intended that to be, since Lupus means Wolf in Latin. Lupus can be found between the constellations of Centaurus and Scorpius. The Lupus constellation is home to some remains of a supernova, some globular clusters, and the Retina Nebula. It also contains two stars that have planets.…
A literary symbol is something in literature that stands for something else and may be interpreted in many ways. Lord of the Flies just so happens to be one big allegory, containing many objects that represent abstract ideas or concepts. In the book, symbols begin to change with time as it goes on. The changes also represent what the symbols mean.…

'In a time long forgotten, thirteen sibling constellations formed, Humans had called the siblings, the Zodiacs, Eventually, the human population faded and the earth changed its continental positioning. The Zodi descended from the heavens and established kingdoms on the new earth. Aries, Taurus, and Leo settled on the vast grasslands. Cancer, Aquarius, Pisces, and Capricorn controlled the oceans and islands. Scorpio occupied the more dry and desert-like land. Sagittarius, Virgo, and Orphiucus overtook the forests. Finally, Gemini and Libra split any remaining land. Then, the Zodi created lesser divine beings to represent them on the earth. The beings from Aries to Virgo are Nepheletine, Cretia, Castor and Pollux, Karkin, Leonis, and Astria. From Libra to Pisces, the beings are Thalia, Gaia, Niratus, Chiro, Enka, Ganymede, and Icthidites.…
The constellation that I chose can be seen during midwinter on the south side of the sky from Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The constellation symbolizes the Mythical Bulgarian Crown, which was first worn from King Simeon the First in 893 A.D. The crown symbolizes majesty, might, strength, and wisdom. The story states that only royal people could wear that accessory they had to be reliable and responsible, in order to be given the opportunity to wear the Crown.…
Have you ever wondered why you act the way you do? Well you may be surprised that it may have to do with your Zodiac sign, Twelve astrological signs each with their own meanings and origins. John Gardner, when writing the novel “Grendel” decided to incorporate these twelve symbols into the story of Grendel the Demon and his Twelve year war against man, with one symbol being present in each chapter, in forms of imagery, the characters featured in each chapter and the events in the chapter. Three symbols that represent major plot points in Grendel include the Taurus, Gemini and Leo.…

My favourite constellation is the Pyxis. The Pyxis constellation is my favourite because of it's meaning. Pyxis is Latin for "the Mariner's Compass." My family has been in the Navy for years, and compasses are very close to my heart. They helped my family come home.…
The Birthmark shows allegory meaning the characters are symbols that represent something. For an example, Alymer is what a dependent mind might be and the dangers of scientists. He believes that the world is flawless; that everything is perfect. His obsession with perfection got worse when he married Georgina. The small birthmark on her cheek made Alymer so desperate to remove it. He thinks about it a lot, “With the morning twilight Aylmer opened his eyes upon his wife's face and recognized the symbol of imperfection; and when they sat together at the evening hearth his eyes wandered stealthily to her cheek, and beheld, flickering with the blaze of the wood fire, the spectral hand that wrote mortality where he would fain have worshipped.” It…
In group communications theory, there are labeling terms for each contributing member of the group, and how the group interacts among one another - the result is group communication. These contributing factors of situation, goals, roles, norms, and cohesiveness make up the constellation of variables. The film 12 Angry Men depicts the constellation of variables. In the film, twelve jurors in a hot room, forced to deliberate the fate of a man accused of murder. The group comes together in an uncomfortable environment and when one of twelve jurors stands against the group, voting not-guilty for reasonable doubt, there is immediate hostility. The situation is there has to be a unanimous vote as to whether the accused man is innocent or guilty of murdering his father. The goal becomes at first to convince one juror that the accused man is guilty – to which after hours of deliberation, the goal is then flipped where 11 believe the man is innocent and 1 believes he is guilty.…
The term symbolism in its broadest sense means the use of an object to stand for something other than itself. In The Stone Angel, Margaret Laurence uses the stone angel to sybmolize the Currie family values and pride and in particular, the pride and cold personality traits of Hagar Shipley. There are three primary areas where the stone angel is used to symbolize characters in the novel. They are: the Currie family pride as a symbol of egoism and materialism, Hagar’s lack of compassion for her family and friends as symbolized by a heart of stone, and Hagar’s blindness to the feelings and needs of the others as symbolized by the blindness of the angel.…
The meaning of The Statue of Liberty is Liberty Enlightening the World and is an enormous neoclassical monument in New York Harbor on Liberty Island. It was designed by the Frederic Bartholdi and it is a figure of female. The female represents the Roman Goddess of Freedom, Libertas, who puts up with a tablet inducing the law (tabula ansata) and a torch. When you look at it, I can feel it tells me a lots of things: "Liberty, freedom, power to take on the world. And win." On the tabula ansata, 4th July, 1776, the American Declaration of Independence date is emblazoned. At the feet of the Statue of Liberty lies a broken chain. The Statue of Liberty is a convivial signal to the immigrants that are arriving from overseas and it is an icon of the United States and its freedom.…
