O Gente Da Minha

The title for the piece of music that I have chosen for my listening report among friends is Mariza classic hit song “o Gente da Minha terra”. The type of genre this musical piece is traditional Portuguese Fado, although there is no specific composer of Mariza’s music there are many musicians that perform with her on stage, like background singers, violins and in most of her musical pieces a pianist. The location of this recording is taken place in Lisbon, Portugal in 2011. What musical aspects stood out for me the most in the song were the melody, rhythm, harmony, and tempo of the song, her vocals, and the background instrumentals found a unique way to create a similar tempo and harmony in the way that you could emotionally make a connection
Mariza not only gave Portuguese Fado a whole new look but the reason why she was so successful was because of her experiences she was born being raised around Fado her whole life, Portugal was in poverty while she was growing up as a child so that is the reason why she always had to work hard for what she wanted, no one in Portugal listened to anything but Fado , she grew up listening and watching amazing artists Fado-like Amalia grow and saw how much she really enjoyed every aspect of it, because it’s not only just an ordinary song you sing to other people your sharing your life story through your singing, and that’s why she made it so special no one was ever able to do that before. I loved this song every second and minute of it , because it reminded me of my old childhood days living in Portugal and ever since I was a kid I've looked up to her story of perseverance and how she became who she is known as today despite what everyone would tell her she still showed everyone that with it’s not about what others say that threaten your destiny, it about what you say about yourself that affects your destiny, and that is why I love this musical piece
