Nutrition Observation Report
I did my presentation on addressing obesity with nutrition and this topic is a great matter to have a discussion on. I am always interested in controversial topics or something that is going on in the world that needs to be talked about. I did learned a few things about when I did my research that I did not know before. I personally, enjoy speaking in front of people, maybe not a huge group of people, but a class of students is not something I worry about too much. One thing that I have learned is to make sure you are fully prepared for your presentation, because if you are not people can tell. Especially having all of the information given to you and we did not have to do much of own research makes it even easier to have your presentation …show more content…
I thought me standing in front of the class and talk was great, because I do feel comfortable doing that. I like to discuss topics that interests me and things that I know about, and in this case I knew that I had a lot of information and I know how to delivery that while I am speaking to other people. I wish I had a bit more props and things I wanted I was not able to get, a visual would have helped my presentation in a big way. I think in any classroom or a lesson, having a visual is always a great way to get people interested in what you are talking about, it gets their attention. Getting creative with your planning of lessons or presentation will not only benefit the people who are listening, but the individual that is presenting. It makes you feel prepared, on top of things, and comfortable with what you have to show. I think that I did a lot of additional research and had great statistics to get the students attention, and I know that I did teach the a few new things that they did not know. I think I have a great personality where I can talk in front of people and make them laugh, but even I had to practice at home a few times going over what I was going to say. Practicing your speech or lesson, especially as a few teacher, will help you feel confident in what you have prepared. Also to go with that, if you have a time limit like we did, make sure when you are practicing to

The most important thing when presenting is your interpersonal skills. Throughout this project I believe my interpersonal skills were good but there were plenty of improvements I could have made, I have been really successful in developing my interpersonal skills, I believe that it should be important that every student has the opportunity to improve their presentational skills or communication skills because at some point they will need it.…

Conducting face-to-face presentations are different from conducting online presentations. When in front of a group of people or face-to-face, there should be a plan to involve the audience in the discussion. For example, taking a short break to have a questions segment about something that was discussed would be ideal. While in an online setting, voice tone, facial expressions, and hand gestures are key to keeping the audience tuned in. Maybe throw in a joke or two for good measure.…

The first thing that I noticed in my introduction is that I need a better attention grabber. It was good, but there is definitely a better way to get the audience’s attention. The biggest thing in my speech that I noticed the most was the eye contact. I tend to look down at my notecards a lot. I review my speech over and over again before I give it, and almost memorize it, but it is my worst fear to speak in front of people so that is why I look down at my cards so much. Also, I have my cards too close to my face. The second thing that caught my attention while watching myself was that I need to have more gestures with my hands. Having a little bit more mobility with my hands will put more emphasis on the things that I am trying to say to the audience. The power point that I made was simple, but I feel like it got the points across and corresponded with my speech. I thought my tone throughout the speech was good. I feel like my tone of voice is very personable with the audience and not too soft or loud. Another thing that I thought I did well was pausing. I let my information sink in with the audience with a pause. I tend to use a lot of head movement when I’m speaking, and it is distracting to the audience. I used some humor in my speech by giving funny pictures and saying some things in my speech that made the audience laugh. I gave some time to let the humor set in with a pause and then proceeded to go on with my speech, so I thought that I used humor in my speech pretty well. My speech needs to be more conversational. When I watched myself speak, it seemed like I was reading it a little bit. With a more conversational way of speaking, you can attach yourself to the audience rather than reading your speech. Saying that, when I was speaking I was standing with good posture and speaking with a good tone. Even though I may have not been speaking conversationally, I think that my posture made up for it a…

The best way to convey your message is to use a natural, comfortable conversation style when doing a presentation. From personal experience, I can tell you that this is true. There is nothing more boring for your audience then having some stiff-laced person who is afraid of his or her own shadow conveying information to them in a monotone manner.…

The two pertinent nutrition problems that Joe has is to increase his protein needs to aid in the wound healing process and to increase his fluid needs since fluids are lost in burn wounds (Namdar T. et al, 2010). This is the first opportunity for me to present information of any topic to my class in a while. I’m not sure if I remember the last time I presented in front of a class full of people, which made me very nervous for this presentation especially in front of people I didn’t know and had never talked to before. As the date for me to present was arriving I began to get more nervous because again I haven’t done this is a while but once I entered the class I did a good job of keeping my nerves down and simply reading the slides to the class and presenting the information of my particular dialect very well I feel like. For many people presenting such things are enjoyable and fun for them but for me I’ve never been a big fan of presenting in front of a classroom full of students and in this case a classroom full of students I don’t know.…

During a nutritional assessment, the client’s height, weight, age, sex, and physical activity level are gathered and used in determining the body mass index (BMI) and daily caloric intake requirements of micro- and macronutrients. The following formula, from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, was used to determine Josephine’s body mass index (BMI) using her current height and weight of 5’ 7” and 117 pounds: height (inches) x [weight (pounds)2] x 703 (Healthy Weight, 2011). During Josephine’s initial session she mentions wanting to lose weight; however, when using the formula above, her BMI is within normal range at…

    Analysis of Presentation

My videos were found in the politics section on You Tube, and both were very informative. My first presentation was from a female who obviously did some major study on her topic. She had great eye contact with her audience, and demonstrated with her hands through the entire video. However, her audience was very quiet, to the point I wondered if they were sleeping with their eyes open. No-one made a sound or had any questions for her. It almost seemed like a lecture. She presented the information with in-depth detail, (from memory) and even though she had a huge stack of material to look at, it rested on the pulpit until the end. This let me know she was very prepared to share the information and knowledge she had gained over the years, but chose the wrong route for delivery. All of her materials were in print form, and she did not use a power point. I believe if she had used slides, the audience might have been more interested, and a question and answer section at the end might have been useful as well.…
