Nursing Self-Reflection

In this paper I will discuss my self –reflection in nursing 417/418 classes, which is my senior graduating semester. Overall, I felt that this semester help me mold me into a great nurse. I feel that I will be well prepared starting out as a new graduate on a nursing unit. During this semester I learned the different skills that I was having trouble with, such as strengthening my prioritization skills and organization skills while working during my preceptorship. In this semester I strengthen my team work skills in class and on the nursing unit, this was a great asset for me to strengthen because it will help me in my future career of nursing. In the field of nursing there is a lot of communication and it is imperative for a new nurse to establish it in her nursing career. Also, during my preceptorship I learned to prioritize my different task, this was an opportunity for me to establish which client is highest priority. During nursing 417 broaden my knowledge on the community aspect of nursing, during clinical I was able to visit health clinics, WIC clinics, schools, and hospice care. Each one facility taught me a lot that I may use in my nursing career. For instance, in the schools I learned the nurse’s roles as a school nurse. Also, in the school I was able to learned carbohydrate counting for students that were on insulin, which was an interesting skill for me to learn. Not only did I learn all the great things about community nursing, l was able to gain knowledge on the leadership aspect of nursing in the nursing 418.
