Nursing Philosophy Essay
My philosophy of nursing is taking care of my patients with compassion and empathy, with an open mind, and without judgement by using correct nursing knowledge. Teaching is another part of my philosophy of nursing. As a nurse, you need to give patient education (including family members and caregivers) continuously during nursing care for a better outcome. Personally, I believe that learning is a lifelong process. Learning is essentially a good thing for everyone and it creates a positive impact for all. Many people think that they want to study nursing or they want to change their carrier to nursing from a different field. Every human being has human dignity. Everyone has to be valued and respected no matter who they are. I believe that health is the most important thing for one’s life. In order to live a better life, the person has to maintain a healthy condition by taking care of their basic needs, thus the person can better promote his or her life and pursue their dream or goal. Health is a homeostasis condition of our mind and body. I think that health can be maintained when physiological homeostasis and psychological homeostasis are well balanced. Illness of body or mind occurs when a well-balanced, stable condition is broken. It can be from a disease or by an injury from an accident. An environment is given to the person who lives his or her life. I think internal environments are psychological and spiritual factors that affect one’s behavioral development and mental health. External environments are the factors that physically affects a person, such as the person’s physical life, space, air, weather, food, location of living, pollution, school, means of transportation, traffic, workplace, community, etc. When a person has a vulnerable internal environment, then the person’s mental health will be weakened and eventually the person obtains a mentally ill condition. A person will get sick easily when they have poor external conditions. Thus, I believe that the person’s environment is very important because both internal and external environments directly affect to one’s health
