While this process has been an ongoing one, it has prepared me in determining what kind of impact I would like to have upon society.

Through being a nurturing individual, helping others become, and remain, healthy, and supporting holistic care, this multifaceted healing essentially heals the world. From caring for person, this demonstrates that others do care about their fellow human beings. The impact a nurse, such as the one I hope to be, does help produce harmony within the world.
Through changing myself with education, and helping other reach their goal of joining the field through teaching, I believe that impact would be beneficial to society. As time has progressed, I would love to give back all that I was taught one way or another, and teaching sounds like a magnificent way to reach beyond the boundaries of a hospital. While caring for individuals in a hospital does allow one to meet, and help, many fascinating individuals, being an educator helps other's do the same thing. There are many aspects of health care that intrigue me. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse; unfortunately it is very difficult to get into the program. However, if I ever go back to do that, I would want to either do labor and delivery or pediatrics. I have had the privilege of witnessing the birth of one of my nieces and it was the most amazing experience. To be a nurse and being a part of that on a daily basis would be awesome. I also have an extra soft spot for children, which is why pediatrics would also be of interest to me. Life threatening diseases do not only affect adults. I feel that being able to help children would only be helping our future.…

Nurses share the joys, pains, and triumphs of their patients. Everyday nurses show-up for duty, receive their patients, and without hesitation begin to become a valued member of an extended family. I initially went to school with the goal of becoming a medical doctor. At the time, I believed becoming a doctor was the only way I could ultimately give back to my community through my passion for science. The decision to pursue the field of advanced nursing, developed after sharing my concerns about healthcare in the Mississippi Delta with my local family nurse practitioner.…

I believe that nursing is both art and a science consisting of psychosocial and biological sciences that work together to continually improve the health care field. As a nurse it is crucial to carry the attributes of being caring, compassionate, understanding, nonjudgmental, realistic, open-minded, honest, ethical, and moral. I also feel that it is important to maintain sensitivity to all cultures when providing care. I believe it takes someone with a huge heart to do what nurses do. Some things you cannot be taught. Reflecting on the past two years of nursing school, my philosophy of nursing has been reshaped from when I had first started the nursing program. Though the fundamental aspect of my philosophy has not changed, my horizon has been broadened to see the beauty behind the nursing profession. Florence Nightingale once said that “Nursing is an art, and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation, as any painter 's or sculptor 's work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God 's spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts” (Bolen, 2009). I had almost said the finest of Fine Arts.” Her belief in the nursing profession has been the core reason for most of my beliefs. Through the academic studies and hands on…

I feel that I can make many contributions to the nursing profession. I am an extremely ethical person and will always try to make good ethical decisions. I have much respect for others and will always have a “good beside manner.” I see nurses every day in the medical field who seem burnt out and lose respect for their clients because they start viewing them not as a person, but as another number. I will never lose that respect and caring for others. I will treat others as I would want to be treated and never forget that they are a human being, not just a patient.…
