I believe that my friendly and empathetic nature would make me well suited to caring for others. Two of my core qualities are to care and nurture, of which I believe are vital attributes to pursue a career within a health care profession. I believe good time keeping, self-motivation and the ability to cope under pressure are vital when having to work alongside others as many of these skills will be needed within the career I want.
From studying biology I have gained further knowledge of human biology, learning more about how the major organs function, genes and genetic engineering, I found this partially interesting as the human body is extremely complicated and it amazes me how our bodies function and how we sustain life is amazing, not only has my GCSE's and A-Level course gave me understand but from a young age I've had my grandmother teach me about it bringing out all

As I grew up, she also brought me to work with her and I befriended the majority of her coworkers and I specifically remember one named Donna. She and I used to talk and go room to room to see her patients. There I learned what to do and how to talk to patients as well as how to help them recover. I’d ask them questions about their current state of health even though I knew nothing about the human body. I always loved observing all of the nurses and their day-to-day work. Examining the interactions between nurses and patients, or even nurses themselves, had piqued my curiosity because I was astounded by how close the relationships were. This has since developed into a passion leading to a career goal.…

Having a Father working as a Chemist since a young age, science has always played a key influence in my upbringing at home, as well as at school. However I have only found in recent years how interesting and exciting this can be, and so sparking my interest in Biomedical sciences began at GCSE level, where the level of detail, precision and anatomy of the human body captured my attention greatly, I knew from here I wanted a career in such an exciting and developing field. I chose to follow my passion and continued to study biology and chemistry at AS level. I found these very interesting and enjoyed learning, especially human biology and genetics related topics. What appeals to me particularly about biomedicine as opposed to other biological science courses, is the larger, more fulfilling and exciting lab work present.…

Most Registered Nurses work directly with the patients and their families. They are the families’ contact with the medical world, in the hospital and at the patients’ home. A nurse does frequent evaluations of the patient and check vital signs to make sure everything is going as planned. Nurses perform procedures such as IV placement, phlebotomy (process of taking blood samples from the patient) and administering medications. Working hours for a nurse are different almost all the time because no one can predict when an emergency is going to happen. They must be available twelve hours a day, nights, weekend, and be able to handle any rotations or changes in their shifts. Documenting a patient’s medical record, symptoms and diagnostic tests is a…

As my first career that I personally like would be a Registered Nurse. On the paper as an option with the box that matches my personality, also has nursing on it as well. Even thou it just say nurse on it they are still both that same. I picked this career because my grandma is very sick with Lupus; I want to be able to help my grandma get better. If I can be one more doctor and find out what’s wrong or what disease people have that they don’t know about. If I could do that, me alone could make a difference in the world in today’s generation. If we had other people that cared about how sick other people are the world would be so much better. Not as many people would be sick and there might even be a cure for some of the things we didn’t now about.…

If you have ever had to go to the doctors or emergency room, odds are you have dealt with a nurse. My family seems to be very accident prone. Hospital visits usually consist of injuries ranging from extremely high fevers and stitches, to ATV accidents requiring x-rays and CT scans. When incidents arise, I can usually stay pretty calm, jumping into action to determine what needs to be done. The blood I can handle, the cuts needing stitches, no problem! Disgusting bodily fluids, check! These are issues that do not…

I have been inspired to pursue biology as a subject since my time at high school. During my GCSE stages of high school, I became fascinated by animal behaviour, ecology and evolution of different species and different organisms. Developing on from this, my current studies in applied science has enabled me to enjoy participating in practicals, working in a group, and working as an individual, having the opportunity to widen my experiences in practical sciences. I have particularly enjoyed scientific procedures and techniques and science investigation skills. I have learnt many transferable skills during my BTEC Applied Science lessons, such as presentational skills, and IT skills.…
