I treat children and adolescence every week, and once in two weeks I meet with the patient's parents for a parental guidance. The encounter with the children exposes me to a variety of emotional difficulties that they are dealing with. The personal acquaintance with the patients provides me the opportunity to become exposed to their past experience, environmental influences and the coping method they develop to overcome their difficulties. In addition, the paternal guidance provides me the opportunity to get to know the parents and the way they see the difficulties of their children. In addition, I can also give them practical and emotional tools to cope with these difficulties. I must note that the therapeutic process is causing many emotions for me as well, and I am learning to get to know and learn about myself much better. It is an opportunity for me to identity the strengths and difficulties within me to be able to treat someone else correctly. In addition to the practical training, I am continuing my research for my thesis on the development of compassion within…

I conducted an in person interview at Deaconess Cross Pointe, 7200 East Indiana Street; Evansville, Indiana 47715. I interviewed Natalie Goffinett, who has achieved her Master’s Degree in Social Work, and counsel’s children and families at that facility. When setting the appointment to interview Ms. Goffinett, I offered her the option to conduct the interview either in person or over the telephone. Ms. Goffinett and I agreed that an in person interview would be best if I wanted to have the opportunity to tour the facilities, as well as develop a sense for inpatient and outpatient environments. Deaconess Cross Pointe is a state licensed facility offering a full range of mental health services and psychiatric care which can meet the emotional and behavioral health care need of children, teen, adults, and their families. This facility meets, and exceeds my career goals and objectives; I would definitely consider working with this agency, as well as recommending others in need of the services that this facility provides.…

Pediatric Behavioral Health Collaborative Care Program represents the model of Close collaboration at the outpatient general pediatric clinic. Children are referred by general pediatricians and remain in the care of the pediatrician after the consultation unless children need more intense care. Wait lists are shorter than in the classis system where children are referred to the psychiatric clinic. Anxiety & Cognitive Behavioral Consultation Clinic utilizes a model of Co-location at the outpatient specialty pediatric site. Specialists including neurologist, gastroenterologists and cardiologist refere patients to behavioral health specialist. Pediatric specialists except neurologist in majority of the cases do not choose to prescribe psychotropic medication and prefer follow up for medication at the psychiatric clinic. Child continues to see a therapist at the pediatric specialty clinics so all systems except billing is…

My goals for residency are simple – to continuously learn in order to educate and heal. Although I have been involved in the community in various ways for many years, I am truly excited to start giving back to society from a different perspective – that of a physician, of a person’s first stop in their most vulnerable of times. Family Medicine is a broad field that will challenge me in many ways, but I am ready to enhance my knowledge in a program that fosters learning through a supportive, team approach where patients and their futures are the greatest concerns.…

While researching texts written and published about Nurse Practitioners, I have found that Nurse Practitioners are rapidly becoming the top health partner choice for many Americans. Nurse Practitioners have been servicing patients for over forty years. The NP role had its initiation in the mid-sixties in response to a lack of physicians in the United States. They can perform very extensive and concentrated examinations; distinguish and treat common keen illnesses, as well as laboratory tests; and educate and instruct patients and their loved ones about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and possible health care options. In all fifty states Nurse Practitioners are allowed to prescribe medications to patients, including controlled substances. Only twenty-six states allow Nurse…

Secondly, Character. I identify the eighth, “Possesses the concentration, self-discipline, and sustained attention and effort as demonstrated by their perseverance and application to studies,” from the list provided to be the most important. Currently, I maintain a 4.0-grade point average, specifically a cumulative GPA of 4.027 which I intend to maintain until my senior year. I am a student with self-imposed standards that, at times, seem to drive me beyond my limits. Notably, my parents have never mandated that I engage in strenuous classes, nor have they persisted of me to have a 4.0 GPA, but I have always set a standard for myself to maintain that grade point average. Moreover, I constantly seek knowledge and I find a sense of joy in the…
