Introduction Adolescence is the time of growth and maturation. It is a stage of transition from childhood towards adulthood (Larson, Wilson, & Rickman, 2009; Schlegel, 2009). The changes that may be observed in teenagers are seen not only in physiological aspects, but also in psychological and emotional aspects. The changes in psychological aspects may include the change of preference in material belongings which may somehow affect how they view their outside appearance by the clothes that they wear and whom they wear it around (http://www.termpaperwarehouse.com/essay-on/Biological-Transformation-Of-Adolescence/219235). Fashion becomes important to people during their teenage years because they start to become conscious with their outside appearance and how other people look at them. During these years, teenagers start to get interested in boy-girl and sexual relationships, too, so for them to stand out and to get noticed by the person whom they are interested in, people will dress their best, or to not get left behind by the other people of their same age; they try to keep up with the latest fashion trends so they would not look like a loser. “Fashion is a form of imitation and so of social equalization, but paradoxically, in changing incessantly, it differentiates one time from another and one social stratum to another.” (G. Simmel, 1957). From this quote from Simmel’s book entitled The American Journal of Sociology, We would recognize the meaning of fashion as “changing through times” as well as the advanced technology in our time now, and also fashion’s variety on different people in different classes in the society and in gender. Girls are said to be more concerned about fashion more than boys do because girls have more categories in clothes that they wear compared to boys’.
