Nt1330 Unit 3 Pest Analysis
The WHS legislation includes a model WHS Act, regulations, Codes of Practice that require employers do a risk assessment for the employees using the workstations in the company. And this include all equipment and furniture, and also the environment.

Working with computers involves health and safety issues directly related with health and fatigue. This problems can be attributed to the strain placed on the body by working with computers. Some of these problems are:

* Sitting in the same position for long time

* Looking at the screens without a rest, etc.

* Excessive use of the mouse,etc.

Some of the minimum standards for workstations are:

Use of a proper light

* Adjust the brightness and contrast of the screen.

* Use an anti-glare filter for the screen

* Make sure that the images are stable.

* Place the screen to right angle to any window to avoid the reflection.

* Make sure that the light in the office are adequate for using the computers.

Keyboards

* Have foam wrist pads to relieve wrist strain and discomfort.

* Mouse and keyboard should be placed at the same height.

Work surface

* Put the documents in a document holder at the same height of the computer.

* Ensure that there is adequate space for the computer users.

* Ensure that the computer screen is free of dust to avoid eyestrain.

The chair,

Should have :

* Adjustable height ,

* Adjustable back rest,

* If necessary use a lumbar pillow.

* To maintain an ergonomic position is ideal to use a footrest.

The guidelines for a healthy and safe working environment are :

> Lighting in the office

> Control the noise in the office

> Air quality and control the temperature in the office

> Provide enough space for the employees to change position comfortably.
