Music has played a significant role in my life from the time I was born. First, my name came from a very popular singer/song writer Melissa Manchester that my mother really loved. I remember growing up she used to sign and dance to her music one of her favorite song was “Shine like you should”.my mom still listens to her music today. I remember always listening to older music that seemed to have a lot of sole growing up such as Air Supply, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and even Marvin Gaye. I have always listen to music when I am happy and just want to groove or even when I am feeling sad and need to listen to a song that I can relate to for feelings

He goes on to say that the different type of music a person listens to can change their emotions in ways of crying, and even anger (Holt, M., 2007). When I am feeling down, lonely, blue or even just disappointed I tend to listen to mellow R&B music something that I know will relate to my feelings at that time. A perfect example would be when I have to spend more then a day away from my significant other due to our schedules and I am missing him terribly I tend to listen to a song that he told me is how he feels about m by artist Anthony Hamilton called “Her Heart”. When I listen to the song I know that everything will be okay and without having my love there I can still remember how he feels about me and that he does not want to be away from me anymore then I want to be away from him and I feel a little less lonely. I also use some music to try and calm me down such as a great artist his songs always change my mood his name is Calvin Richardson, he is a young R&B singer with an old soul in his music and it always picks my mood up when I am a little stressed or even upset. I just seem to be taking away by the music and forget about the world at that

Music has always been a part of us ever since the begging of time. It’s been with us threw the happy, great times and also for the not so happy bad times. We can express ourselves with music by telling a story with in the lyrics and even with the beat showing, telling how we are feeling. It can be a cheerful, carefree, joyful beat, to gloomy, mournful, blue beat, but not everyone has the same taste in music. Music it’s self is unbelievably stunning and so breathtaking.…

Dick Clark once said, ¨Music is the soundtrack of your life.¨ Music is one of the most powerful and influential things in my life. Without the melodies and harmonies of music, my life would feel bland and meaningless. I have a very busy schedule and sometimes it is too easy to lose meaning in my everyday tasks, but with music I am able to keep meaning in my life. I use music to get me through the activities of my everyday life. Whether it is cleaning my room, doing homework, or just relaxing, music makes everything better. I think that music can convey feelings and emotions extraordinarily well. When words cannot do the job, music can. Along with that, I think that music accompanies memories very well also. Going back to Dick Clark’s quote, I think I would be able to make a timeline of my life just using song titles, albums, and…

As a little girl I wanted to be just like Hannah Montana. As I got older, I wanted to be like Rachel Berry, a small town girl living out a big town dream. I wanted to be looked up to because of my musical talent. Walking into Mrs. Kaiser's 7th hour, 8th grade band, I didn't know that music would have such an impact in my life. Music has become the spark of my intellectual curiosity. There are millions of combinations of key signatures, chords, melodies and rhythm in the world of music just waiting to become attached to a sheet of staff lines and spaces. Ever since my first experience with music in the fourth grade, my mind began to explore all these combinations of problems. Music helped me with math, english and gave me a place to escape when I was put into undesirable situations. In Middle…

From my early childhood, all the way until now and I am sure to the future and beyond I have been fascinated by music. I have loved to listening to, playing, singing, and writing music as well. I can vividly remember when I was very young in our family room we had a stereo and my family and I would dance and play along to music. I specifically remember The Beatles and The Eagles. I had a small plastic snare drum that I use to use until sadly I stepped on it. Both of my Uncles played music and were in a band themselves. My Uncle Ed was a drummer and my Uncle Ronnie was a guitarist and a singer. I remember going to concerts for their band a t a young age as well.…

Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.…

It has served as the basis of multiple friendships and provides me with something to do in my free time. Some of the music I listen to, such as the band Twenty One Pilots, has even helped me get through dark times in my life. The lyrics of many of the artists I listen to are quite impactful, and have even changed how I view essential concepts such as life. Through playing music, I have met many of my closest friends, and it has given me a different perspective on music as a whole. It has also introduced me to songs and composers that I would’ve never heard of without lessons or playing in ensembles. Music has changed my life for the positive immensely, and is a big part of who I am as a…

I have always been drawn to music. As a child, I had a fond attachment to music. Music was always being played in my household, whether it was on the radio, the television, or through an instrument. Music has always given form to my feelings. As a child I remember I would turn on the radio, sit on my bed and just listen to random music stations. Although I never had dreams of becoming a singer, dancer or any sort of musician, I have always been fascinated by music. I have been captivated by rhythm and melody since the days my mother would sing me to sleep.…

“Music is my life”. Yes it is, it even makes my world go round. Without music, life would be very boring, there would be no lovely melodies around to bring joy to us. Without music, I bet there would be a lot of people suffering from depression, dying. Why? Because of music, they forget all of the problems they have in their life. The message that music gives to us people, helps us get through tough times. When that message really helped you a lot, you’ll thank the artist(s), especially when it is a band that suffered what you also had, and love them forever.…

    Music and Mood

The article I found was titled “Music and Mood” by Carolyn J Murrock and Anita V Clark. The article explains how rhythm, melody, pitch, harmony, and interval in music play a role in creating alterations in mood in humans. Murrock and Clark state that, “Music produces psychological effects by engaging the limbic system.” The limbic system is the center of emotions, sensations, and feelings. The article also explains how your emotions affect your nervous system. This can affect your cardiovascular, respiratory, neuroendocrine, and immune systems in your body. Emotions also release different hormones. Stress hormones can lead to anxiety, depression and disappointment; whereas positive emotions lead to tranquility, complacency, and relaxation. Murrock and Clark believe that the release of these hormones when listening to music produces physiological effects in the human body. The therapeutic properties of music date back to prehistoric times when it was used as a powerful instrument for health, healing, and wellness. Today music is used less in pharmacological ways and more for enjoyment and enhancement of physical activity. People also use music today to alter moods, communicate feelings, and create distraction.…
