Nt1310 Unit 3 Components
CPU is the Central Processing Unit. This is the key component or even the “brain” of the computer. The CPU carries out all the instructions and every single instruction must go through the CPU prior to being performed. It executes arithmetic, logical and input/output operations.
The motherboard is the main circuit board in a computer. The motherboard contains many components such as the CPU, PCI slots, the microprocessor, and USB ports. On the motherboard there is something called the chipset which is basically a number of chips and controllers? Essentially, the motherboard is what makes all the components in the computer work together.
RAM is the random access memory and it is volatile. It holds program instructions and data. The CPU can find

Computer systems generally consist of three main parts, the central processing unit (CPU) to process data, main memory to hold the data to be processed, and a variety of peripherals to communicate that data with the outside world. An early computer might use a hand-wired CPU of vacuum tubes, a magnetic drum for main memory, and a punch tape and printer for reading and writing data. In a modern system we might find a multi-core CPU, DDR3 SDRAM for memory, a hard drive for offline data, a graphics card and LCD display as a display system, a mouse andkeyboard for interaction, and a Wi-Fi connection for networking. In both examples, computer buses of one form or another move data between all of these devices.…

The first question asks “What is a CPU and what role does it play in a computer?” The CPU is an acronym for Central Processing Unit. The CPU works in conjunction with the Main memory of a computer to execute programs on at a time. A CPU is not directly used by the user and would not work without supporting devices which are called peripherals. The Central Processing Unit made up of three components which are the control unit, the registers, and the arithmetic/logic units. The control unit acts as a middle man between the main memory and the registers by transferring data and instructions. Along with that the control unit directs the data storage in particular registers to be done by the arithmetic/logic unit. The next component is the register’s serve as small storage areas with specific purposes, an examples is an instruction register which holds the current instruction being executed (Lewis &Loftus, 2013). The arithmetic/ Logic unit is in charge of making decisions and performing calculations.…
