Linux or Windows, DOS, MAC OS
Windows is a GUI operating system as is MAC OS. MAC OS can only be on an apple computer and it costs £1000 approximately including the computer whereas windows costs around £617 including the computer for the pro edition. Windows also has more software made for it. Windows also has more security options than MAC as on windows you can restrict what certain users can do with some files. MAC has more settings than windows making it easier to customise but removing software is not as simple as it is on windows
CLI and GUI Operating Systems (Command Line/Graphic User Interface)
A CLI operating system has the user type commands into a terminal whereas a GUI operating system has the user click on files and folders to open/navigate. Most GUI operating systems have a command line program with an example being the command prompt on windows

At first, computers lacked any form of operating system. The computer user had sole use of the machine. The user would arrive at the machine armed with his or her program and data, often on punched paper tape. The program would be loaded into the machine, and then the machine set to work, until the program stopped. Later, computers came with libraries of support code which were linked to the user's program to assist in operations such as input and output. This would become the start of the modern-day operating system. However, these machines still only ran a single job at a time.…

The system unit is the core of a computer system. Usually it's a rectangular box placed on or underneath your desk. Inside this box are many electronic components that process information. The most important of these components is the central processing unit (CPU), or microprocessor, which acts as the "brain" of your computer. Another component is random access memory (RAM), which temporarily stores information that the CPU uses while the computer is on. The information stored in RAM is erased when the computer is turned off.…
