North Schuylkill Elementary School Artifact Analysis
This artifact is a letter written by my professor Dr. Maureen Walsh explaining my involvement in Read across America Day at North Schuylkill Elementary School. I co-taught two lessons on this day one in a secondary classroom and one in a kindergarten classroom. This experience allowed me to practice teaching strategies and work collaboratively with the community. This artifact fits under standard #10: leadership and collaboration, since it explains an opportunity I had to work with a peer and serve my community. By doing this experience I gained a lot of knowledge on how to work well with other professionals and volunteer in my community. This is an example of my best work since it demonstrates how a professor noticed my ability to use the

Mounds Park Academy is an independent private school that offers education for talented students who are motivated to become a part of a community where both academic, and athletic success is celebrated. The school looks to admit students who have shown that they have the ability to master their school curriculum, and who have an enthusiasm for learning. The school firmly believes in family involvement throughout their student's education as the school provides a challenging curriculum in which each student will need support as they grow both developmentally and emotionally. In addition, the school seeks to include both a multicultural and diverse community, therefore not discriminating against admission of students on any grounds related to religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class status.…

It is important for teachers to know what the community, school, and statistics are before deciding to apply at a school. Knowing these facts, can help teachers decide whether or not the school is the best place for them to work at knowing their abilities. A teacher can use these facts to help benefit them in the interview and in the classroom. Creating a game plan to attack the educational areas in need will help make the teaching experience easier. Let’s say the teacher is applying to Hillcrest Elementary School part of the Revere School District. Exploring the community around Revere is also essential in understanding what the populations of people who go to Revere are. A teacher will need to research…

My second artifact is a picture book that I made with all the pictures my grandpa and I took together for any type of holiday or a photo to share the fun memories we had together. I chose to make a picture book because I was very thankful to have my grandpa apart of most of my life. I couldn’t have done it without him through most of the hard times. It ties in with my larger theme because I appreciated everything my grandpa did for me before his passing.…

Throughout this semester my learning experiences have been very significant towards my awareness of the Indigenous population. My personal perspectives have been impacted throughout this semester drastically also. This unit has helped increase my awareness toward the Indigenous people of Australia and the immoral battles they where put through in the past. My response to this unit of study was completely different to what I thought it would have been. My emotions have been triggered considerably throughout this semester. What really touched me was hearing about the horrific measures Indigenous children were put through. Getting taken away from their families purely because of their Aboriginal background, being mistreated, and having their innocents corrupted really upset me. Another aspect of history that really got to me was the story Rebecca told the class. The history on ‘closed adoptions’ that Rebecca was personally apart of.…

The visual artifact I choose to rhetorically analyze is the "super racist" Red Cross safety poster. This visual artifact was introduced into the mainstream media on June 27, 2016, after it spread throughout Twitter and sparked for being racist. The goal of this poster was to introduce pool/swimming safety to children across the nation. The poster was posted in two Colorado pools in Salida and Fort Morgan. This poster displayed safe and unsafe actions of children playing in the pool, titled "be cool, follow the rules". Why was this poster considered racist? The poster separated "not cool" and "cool" actions of children playing properly around the pool and children misbehaving. Most of the children playing properly were children of the white…
