Nonprofit Mission Statement
Mission Statement Analysis
Nonprofit Organization Management
Week 2 assignment
November 11, 2012

The first organization I chose was Illinois Action for Children. I have a lot of experience with this organization as a participant and former co-worker. Illinois Action for Children is a nonprofit organization that helps middle-to-low income families’ finds and helps financially support the finding of childcare services while parents work or attend school. They also offer educational programs and services for childcare providers to help them obtain grants and other professionally developmental programs to improve their child care facilities.

In choosing this option I think that the organization fell short in revealing the exact purpose of their organization. It states that they organize, develop, and support families but my question is how? The mission statement failed in letting me know the activities that they do to help organize, develop and support strong families. I equated that the value being “where children matter most”. I would choose the second version of the mission statements a more extensive presentation. In the option I will be able to elaborate and clearly state what the organization is about and what they do.
Revised Mission Statement:
Illinois Action for Children is a catalyst for developing and supporting strong families. We offer financial assistance and supportive programs to ensure the best childcare services and options for you and your family, always knowing that children matter most.

The next nonprofit organization I chose was the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. This organization partners with individual donors, foundations, corporations, governments, and others to build the critical network of support that funds and enables the work of carefully matching children with caring adult mentors and providing ongoing support to the child, volunteer mentor and child family’s.

Lawrence Sutherland, the purpose of the organization moved from being a struggling institution to one with a nationwide reputation. They shared the love of God in Christ by providing food, shelter, spiritual guidance and instruction for the poor and the homeless in Newark. According to Goodwill Rescue mission, they affiliate with helping the individuals directly rather than send them someplace else to fend for themselves. The program is also working with some of these individuals to get them back on their feet to fend for themselves. They have to go through programs if any of them…

What they intend to do is stated clearly but it does not go into much detail which would be better for financing for the intended projects. This statement should be rethought and written to persuade people of their cause. This statement could be a guide for an even better one to be made, the better the statement the better the representation. This statement does not show what the clientele is or should be it talks about client but not which ones. The mission for this business is clearly stated which is to promote cost-effective services, which safeguard the physical, emotional, and social well being of the people of Solano County (Solano County Health and Social Services). In all honesty, I agreed to Goodwill because its recognizable. I’m sure a majority of my peers have been to one at least once. I also agreed because I wasn’t passionate about any of the nonprofits. I mean, in proportion to life, which I also find insignificant, it’s a rather bleak ratio, really. I didn’t fight tooth and nail for my “favorite” nonprofit, because as lovely as giving water to the needy is, I’m not incredibly concerned with it. That sounds awful, but I don’t lie unnecessarily. It’s tedious. On the subject of candor, I really don’t understand why you emphasized picking a nonprofit that we feel passionately about, then following up with, “Okay guys, now choose one of those and make a cohesive project with your diverse viewpoints and opinions based on your unique…
