One of the services I attended were the Jehovah Witness and why I had decided to attend one of their services is because it’s a well known religious group but who they really are and what they stand for is what many people may not know. According to Knox, the Jehovah Witnesses began in Pennsylvania in the 1870’s and it started off with a small group of people who were studying the bible, the leader and founder of the bible study group was Charles Taze Russell and they started off as a small group but with time passing many people came to join them, they then decided to name themselves the Jehovah Witnesses (Knox 2011).…
As the author begins the article, Christian Psychology, its first subtitle clearly states author’s opinion about integration CITATION Chr86 \l 1033 (Christian Psychology, 1986). The article says that the Bible is the only casebook for the cure of souls, therefore integration is not applicable CITATION Chr86 \l 1033 (Christian Psychology, 1986). The author seems to be very upset that psychotherapy or psychological counseling is rapidly replacing Biblical counseling in a church setting and explains the author’s opinion by drawing examples why it does not work CITATION Chr86 \l 1033 (Christian Psychology, 1986). The author believes the change is because…

Christian worldview is one of the worldviews that determines how a person perceives the world and acts as a foundation of how to live life. Christians believe that God created everything out of nothing and gave us life. Christian worldview heavily focuses on that key point and how Christians should live their lives in a way that God can be proud of and try to spread his teachings.…
I will examine the distinctive features of a religious experience and how they differ from everyday experiences from the world religions of Christianity and Buddhism. I intend to use the religious experiences of mysticism, near death experiences and revelations to highlight the distinctive features. These distinctive features are what separate religious experiences from ordinary experiences, such as us not having suitable words in our vocabulary to describe religious experiences and the experience not being universal to human beings.…
Gnosticism is a much maligned and little understood discipline. Many believe that it is an extinct Christian heresy. In fact, it actually predates Judaism and Zoroastrianism.…
Religious profiling is one of those things that seems like the right thing to do, but also seems like the wrong thing to do. In the article “Should We Religiously Profile?” by Ben Shapiro, Ben talks about how religiously profiling someone can cause an innocent person to be wrongly convicted, but also not religiously profiling can lead to a large death toll. Religious profiling either works out well or it ends horribly wrong. There is no escaping the problems religious profiling causes, unless of course a person does not religiously profile someone else.…
Jesus Christ was born destined to become the founder of Christianity. His teachings and lessons, spread all over the world, have influenced many people. As an agnostic atheist living in a relatively secular family, I currently do not attend any house of worship regularly. Even earlier in my life when I was a Christian, going to church as a family was a rare occurrence as both of my parents are very secular and essentially have no public religious beliefs. Although I have gone to many different church services and masses over the years, they have all become less and less meaningful to me as my life has advanced. At my elementary and middle school, Grace-St. Luke’s, the students were forced to go to an Episcopalian service twice a week and many others went there on Sundays. I also attended churches and masses with highly religious relatives like grandparents and uncles, who would not tolerate…
In the article we read there was a conflict between the government and two Christian schools. The government was putting pressure on the schools to accept a rule about LGBTQ issues that went against Christian beliefs. I think that when it comes to honoring government rules it should depend on whether the school is religious or non religious. If the school is non-religious there is no obligation to honor a certain religious lifestyle, thus it is completely ok to honour an LGBTQ lifestyle.…
Each person has their own understanding of what religion is. One is not more right than the other, but it’s hard for many to believe that there aren’t necessarily specific guidelines to what makes a religion a religion. Often times people can’t fathom the thought that there are religions that do not believe in a god, or believe in multiple gods. However, what is important is not to say a religion must believe in god, or must include prayers, but how the individual interoperates what they believe in and practices their awareness and unity. Specifically, the Western and Eastern perspectives of religion differ immensely from what people may assume. Most all religions have this view of religion as a bridge between the absolute and the relative.…
A Christian should always acknowledge that they have made faults once they do so, this is necessary because if one will not admit the wrongs he did then it means that he is not ready to repent. So, regarding repentance, one has to accept that he has done something wrong then from there he goes ahead to pray asking for forgiveness. Becoming a Christian is not about changing only into a Christian then it ends there. It is about being committed for the rest of our lives. For one to be a good Christian he should learn to persevere and when one commits a mistake, then is advisable for that individual to admit, ask for forgiveness from the Lord then continue to move forward.…
Article of faith number five states that “We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.” Heavenly Father gave men the authroity to do His work here on earth. They get the authroity called the priesthood. This is a gift because we have leaders who can receive revelation from God. God loves us so much that he gave man the ability to have the pristhood. This priesthood allows us to partake in ordeicnes that can save us. The scriptures teach us that it is through the power of the laying on of hands that one receives the authority of God. (Acts 6:6) Every person needs to hear of God. He wants everyone to return back to him. He allows missionaries to go throughout the world to serve His children and teach them about His love. God knows that this world is choatic so he blessed us with prophets that can prophecy until his church His words. He will never…
Have you ever questioned someone's existence? Or have you ever thought of a spiritual entity as false? For thousands of years, we have been given a picture of God as the creator of everything we know of. He symbolizes a figure of faith. His spiritual being gives hope and encouragement to people as a way for them to rely on him during their toughest times. For instance, I find myself within those group of people; however, I have become aware that my belief in God is not as strong as I thought it was. During the time I was a child, Roman Catholicism was the religion practiced in my house. My family and I would go to our town¿s local church every Sunday morning at 8 o'clock. I would always be enthusiastic about going to church because I enjoyed…
