Non Adherence Research Paper
I agree that non-adherence is a problem in the medical field that needs to be emphasized. Patients seek medical care to help them with certain problems, and care providers provide appropriate treatment to control or resolve those problems. If the patient does not follow the instruction, particularly the medication, then bad consequences or complications can occur. Without proper documentation, legal issue may be involved. I have seen couple adolescent patients recently for asthma exacerbation. Asthma is a prevalent problem in pediatric population. Both patients I saw did not take their maintenance drug, which is Flovent, as directed. This non-adherence to the medication can result in bad asthmatic attack and can cause ER visit and hospitalization.
