Nitschke's Arguments Against Euthanasia
“Should we all be forced to live on regardless of the quality of life that confronts us? Or, should legislation be extended to ensure dignity and choice for all?” - Dr. Philip Nitschke (CNN) I support euthanasia. What is euthanasia? Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma. Assisted suicide occurs when a physician prescribes a lethal dose of drugs or injection to their patient. There are four types of euthanasia; a withdrawal of care, lethal methods used by a doctor to end a patient's life, doctor assists a patient in their death, or the doctor kills the suffering patient without permission (Sheridan).
