Balancing work and home responsibilities are difficult I am a mother of three and I had to realize that dealing with today's industry you have to be more dependable at your place of employment than being there for your family unless its an emergency. On the website, Nigel Marsh discussed finding ways to balance family and work, and taking control of your own destiny. I will discuss the different points from Nigel Marsh and chapters six and seven concerning the different values of an individual, the effects, and the different factors that play within the individual and the corporate world.

You have to find the balance for yourself because the job wants all your time just like your family do. When I was employed I would try to find out different family activities in advance so I could request off, but if an emergency occurs I would have to call in, and that only hurt me because every time you call out you receive a point. But when I was employed I would perform to my best ability having the Galatea effect. But after being employed for different temporary services and not feeling valued eventually gives you the Golem effect, which is a loss in performance because someone in a higher position might not see the value in the individual. There are many factors that come into play when finding balance at work and home. Deciding what is more important and necessary in life. Chapter seven under Kelley's model of attribution she stated that Hinder, the founder of attribution theory, is the one who stated that behavior can internal and external factors.     Work life balance is an important issue that has been engaging the attention of research scholars, theoreticians, and practicing professionals alike. The increase in the number of dual-working couples and the ascendance of women to higher positions, and to professions traditionally regarded as male bastions, are two important factors that have contributed to increasing work life imbalance. Several studies have shown that work life balance has a direct bearing on organizational performance. It is, therefore, important for organizations to promote better work life balance among their employees. The factors that contribute to improved work life balance have been discussed extensively in literature on the subject. The steps taken by organizations and governments towards this end have also been fairly well documented. Within the work situation, organizations can improve work life balance by offering greater flexibility in terms of place and time of work to the employees, and by providing support and facilities to take care of some of the personal issues such as child rearing. In respect of issues that are rooted outside the work situation, the employer can provide better support, counseling and facilities, and encourage two-way communication.
